Could Q have saved the TNG film franchise?

I think we all agree the Borg saved the TNG movie franchise after "Generations" turned out to be a bad movie. I think Q was just as popular if not more so than the Borg so yes I think he would haved saved it. At least he would have been more of a drawl than anything "Insurrection" had going for it.

Saved it? I don't know. Made a good film...perhaps. If it was Q in the mode of EaF, QWho? or AGT, where he has a bit of an edge, then I think that would be interesting. I wouldn't see him as a bad guy, but definitely an antagonist of some kind. If TPTB wanted Q as a sole "villain," I could see Q throwing Picard and Co into some situation where they are not facing another villainous race, but perhaps more of a problem/threat, along the likes of V'Ger or the Whale Probe.

Q would have made a great cameo at the wedding in Star Trek: Nemesis, where he flashes in, tastes some ourderves and cocktail, doesn't like it (shrugs "Whatever..."), and then flashes back out.

Based on the purile humour in First Contact and especially Insurrection, I fear they would've completely ruined Q. Picture his Voyager stories, with more money spent on them. It would be a complete disaster. I'm just not confident that TNG films were capable of being any better, given the demands Picard and Data splitting the plot between them. Following The Voyage Home model, the best TNG film should have key scenes that enable the supporting characters to shine. Alas, all we got was Troi and Crusher discussing how firm their boobs were. <Shudders>

I know the later Star Trek movies have been burned so bad, but I actually liked them to be honest. I understand why people don't like them also but Insurrection is still one of my 5 favorite Trek movies ever. That's a fun movie and a lot like a TNG episode really.

Nemesis was not as bad as most people rip it to be. Some of the deleted scenes shouldn't have been deleted. Data's death scene was too sudden. It would have been better if he died similar to Spock in TWOK because you get so attached, you don't want your favorite characters to just die like that so suddenly. There are some other weak points but Generations, STV, and III were all weaker movies IMO.

I always thought Q was an excellent TNG bad guy, darkshadow0001

Oh here we go. What makes you think that Q was a villan? Because he screwed around with the crew? I guess by that argument, my teachers were villans. Or my navy drill instructor. Or my parents. Because that's how I saw Q. He wasn't screwing with them for the sake of screwing with them. He was sheperding them and preparing them for an unforgiving universe. There was no mallicious intent in what Q did. Otherwise, he could have wiped out humanity with but a thought.

I think he was preparing them for humanity's eventual evolution to the Continuum. They may do this thing to many races. Some may pass. Some fail. But since Trek is being told from the human perspective, I think we only saw jut the one Q. As for the Voyager crap, I've disowned that. Weapons that can kill a Q?? Riiiight.
