Could Neutral Zone level preachiness ever happen in NuTrek?

I would say no. Look Picard buddy if you wan't to preach the Starfleet gospel you gotta be at least a little bit nice to the savage stock brokers and country singers of the 20th century.

Yeah, the first couple of seasons were in your face with the condescending moral superiority of the "future humans." It's a good thing for the TNG franchise's sake the toned that down.

To the NuTrek crew behaving that way? Hardly... we have a captain who gets into bar rights, routinely disobeys orders when they don't suit him and his bromance with his best friend consists of fighting all the time. The comm and science officers, who are lovers, argue all the time. The doctor finds fault with everything he sees. The engineer drinks like a fish, though at least we haven't seen this version of him doing it on the ship yet, and the weapon and helm officers are way too green to come across as condescending and generally nice guys, if eccentric. I don't think they could pull it off, I think they'd be hypocrites if they tried too. The only person in NuTrek who really got preachy was Pike and he was the "old man" and even he got no where close to season 1 Picard.

That´s right! In TOS they had they moral standards alright, but they still knew when to bend them. For TNG they really put this stuff into overdrive :barf:
