Could Laris be the big bad?

Anyone else think it could be Laris - she would be perfectly placed to play the long game in manipulating Picard?

Now I've said that, it's almost certainly not her.

It's highly unlikely and it would be rather simplistic, but unlike everyone else I wouldn't mind it. Laris is okay but I don't find the character as interesting or appealing as others do. (It also strikes me as incredibly convenient that Zabhan just...died, without any explanation whatever, leaving her free to go after Picard. Very convenient.) I genuinely don't care if we never see Laris again but that's not going to happen, either.

This would be hilariously awful. "These are the voyages" level bad. The only thing better would be if they made Flotter the bad guy.

I doubt it would be Laris, but that would be such a leftfield surprise that I sort of like it. I felt that Orla Brady was criminally underused throughout the series, so giving her a consequential role in the final season is more than deserved. It made no sense in the first season for Jean-Luc to leave two Tal Shiar agents tending his vineyard while he went off to face the Zhat Vash. While it's easier to explain away Laris's absence in the second season, I still wish they had included her. She's too underdeveloped to really sell the idea that she's the woman that Picard will spend his future with (if he has a future). Crusher, Vash, Anij, even Neela Daren, got more development, and some of them with less screentime than Laris has gotten.

Perhaps Laris set up a very complex holo program to keep Picard busy as she moves his stuff out of the house and into their place where they are going.
