BC is a bit far, but I'm sure they'll travel around plenty. Game of Thrones films all over Europe, and sometimes outside of it. There's no need to use only locations in the immediate vicinity of Toronto.

Trek is a studio show mostly and all exteriors have been painfully obvious in the previous series as Southern California.

When I first moved to California, I was amazed by how often "this looks just like a Star Trek planet!" went through my mind. Growing up in the midwest, these exteriors looked so effectively alien and weird! And it was always just California.

I'm looking forward to the alien planets of Canada...
