Could Captain "Gabriel" Lorca be the red Angel?

I'm sure Lorca will be back one way or another. When Pike took over the ready room, they made a point to show him picking up from the floor a fortune from Lorca which read: "Not every cage is a prison, not every loss is eternal." The way that this show introduces breadcrumbs, that's a big one for sure.

Most see that a reference to "The Cage".

Maybe instead of dying at the end of last year he somehow ending up in the network as a higher form. The whole thing could be about getting revenge, we know how much Trek villains love revenge!

It's a hell of a coincidence to lose a character called Gabriel then have an Angel appear the following year.

It is possible, however, such a development would really strain my continued willingness to disbelieve. At some point when a character dies they are going to have to stay dead or this series becomes an absolute parody.

I think Lorca will be back (or at least the writers are keeping the door open for Jason Isaacs to return as Lorca), but it will be Prime Lorca.

I feel Mirror Lorca will stay dead, but there nothing really preventing Prime Lorca from having survived.

At this point, if I were the showrunner, I'd say no more of that (at least for a long LONG time). They are only 1 1/3 seasons old and at some death must equal dead. They've already done the resurrection bit and the alternate universe doppelganger bit so if they start repeating themselves now that definitely would not bode well for the future.

Maybe we'll get something different... like possibly the Red Angel is a combination of Prime Lorca and Mirror Lorca. We don't know what happened when Prime Lorca went to the other side. Maybe he was executed by Emperor Georgiou via supermicellial reactor also and then when Mirror Lorca got sent in too their energies combined and became a hybrid of sorts. Could explain why the Red Angel appears menacing yet also helpful at the same time.

It would be hilarious if real Lorca actually thrived in the Mirror Universe, taking on the identity and reputation of his Mirror self, and by the time they find him again he's already Terran Emperor.

For all we know, they were the same gray area person, occupying the same moral spectrum. (Well, forgetting how insane Mirror Lorca went when he plans were in reach.... but I still assume that some of what we saw previously was more then just a show for our benefit.) We don't know how damaged Prime Lorca was himself. It may have been easier then expected for either one of them to adapt.
