Could androids be programmed to navigate the spore drive?

In the 32nd century, there very likely are androids with organic components. Is it possible that they could be adapted to use the spore drive like Stamets does? That'd make a huge difference in mass producing the spore drive, although it's unclear how many androids are running around in the 32nd century.

If someone outside of Stamets can operate the spore drive, what is his role on the ship again?

Stamets had a computer rigged to his spore drive originally. He then got a better one from Straal. Neither sufficed, but it was an issue of them woefully lacking in capacity, as in quantity. Any pocket appliance from the 32nd century would probably meet the capacity requirement.

Then again, it's quite possible that all of Stamets' and Straal's machinery is just them cargo-culting through unknown territory, and the tardigrade DNA is absolutely vital but nothing else is. None of our heroes wish to do the illegal DNA transfer thing again, on anybody. And while Admiral Vance might have different ideas, he's hostage to the ideas of the heroes here. So it's just that dark matter project of Tilly's for the time being.

An android might be willing to have tardigrade DNA incorporated.

Maybe Starfleet should just track down Ripper and ask "hey brah, you and your fellow tardigrades wanna become voluntary spore drive navigators? Entirely up to you, brah."
