Basically, would people want to see a Star Trek movie that doesn't feature a ship called Enterprise or any familiar characters? Would it be successful?
I think it would have to be a star vehicle. Like they did with the Mission: Impossible movies. They pushed it as a Tom Cruise movie.Basically, would people want to see a Star Trek movie that doesn't feature a ship called Enterprise or any familiar characters? Would it be successful?
This sounds most likely. The Star Trek name alone wasn't enough with established characters in 2016.I think it would have to be a star vehicle. Like they did with the Mission: Impossible movies. They pushed it as a Tom Cruise movie.
If they did something like push it as a Will Smith movie first (just as an example) and a Star Trek movie second, then you could do it. It would all come down to who you cast in the lead roles.
Yes. I'd love to see this.
Now, if we're talking about a direct-to-streaming movie on CBS All Access or Pluto TV or wherever ViacomCBS will focus their digital offerings going forward, then, "Yep!" I think it would work fantastically. I think Star Trek is PERFECT for direct-to-streaming movies.
Why would they put it on Netflix when they already own not one, but two streaming services? They would be much more likely to use it as an enticement for the rumored enhanced CBS All Access, now with Viacom(tm). This is actually a great idea. Perhaps a deal could be done with Netflix or something.
