No, it's not the next version of android, although it seems like an appropriate name, although Android does figure in. FXITech, a company I'm pretty sure you've never heard of before, has a new device called Cotton Candy that is basically a computer on a stick. You plug it into any HDMI device, connect a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and you're running Android. It's basically a cloud computing device, or maybe a tablet computer without a screen. It also has a USB connection so you can plug it into your computer to use your computer screen, keyboard, and mouse.
I'm not sure yet what I think of this idea. On one hand, it's incredibly small and easy to carry around. If you're someone who carries a laptop back and forth to work, you could conceivably keep your monitor, keyboard, and mouse at work and just carry this back and forth. That assumes, of course, that Android is enough for you, or that future versions will be capable of running a full-fledged Linux or other operating system. Or, it might work as a cheap and simple HTPC with the proper software and a network or other external storage device. On the other hand, needing a screen to plug it into really limits the functionality. I'm not sure how useful it could be to most people.
Short Engadget article on it.
