Cosmos - With Neil deGrasse Tyson

The words "continuous exaggeration" come to mind.:)

It's a shame words like "supported evidence" didn't, though.

Educate Yourself.

Paaaaaaleeeeeease..... beware of "governmental agencies" that are here to help.

Also, he compares our climate now to a period in Earth's history that saw 9 of 10 of EVERYTHING go extinct.

Juuuuuust a little stretch there?

The thing you need to understand is politicians will never let a crisis go to waist. So Al Gore and the Hollywood left make a movie, Al says the argument is over and everyone is just supposed to cave and give them money.

It's all about agendas. It's all about money.

It's all about a "new world order" and the biggest "the sky is falling" gripers are from NATO.

Back it all up with verified, evidence supported sources, please.

They aren't trying to get more tax dollars.... or push Cap & Trade... etc...

No, they just want to keep making money without regard for the environmental damage they cause. As if this would be a new or unusual behavior for large corporations.

Bull...

Well the facts aren't on his side, it's really all his has. Personally I was expecting more character assassination for Al Gore since he's their image of climate change and an easy target. Plus it's far easier to attack the messenger since the message is backed up by actual science, but he just dumped out early.

I'm almost impressed.

Almost.

I have "sources" that claim that bigfoot is not only really, but an alien from another universe. They aren't backed up or even posted on what I'd call a trusted site. But it is equally valid as any claims that climate change is a myth and that the scientific community is engaged in some sort of conspiracy to cover up the truth.

Generally if any explanation requires a conspiracy dedicated to covering up the truth, it's almost certainly bullshit.

Agreed. When you start using phrases like "they don't want you to know," your story is likely baseless conspiracy fodder. This is why pseudo-science thrives, and why we have anti-vaccination groups, and climate change deniers. It's easy to toss a few sciency sounding words out, and then explain how Big Government is trying to silence them all. It requires no critical thought, just unwavering acceptance without study.

And again, there's a reason it's called a "scientific consensus". Generally if 97% of scientists (or any kind of expert) agree on something, then it's a safe bet it can be trusted to be accurate.

And it's not like these guys are all a bunch of idiots who have never considered the alternate explanations given by the deniers (solar activity, etc). You can find plenty of papers and articles online addressing every criticism that's been thrown at the consensus opinion.
