Well, here it is 2 weeks later and we've not heard anymore about it, so I guess she couldn't. Though some people would interpret that as him "getting away with it".

Yeah, only the stinking rich would do that sort of thing. A normal person would simply sell the car or lay claim to it through her attorney.

You don't have to really violently fight to get the police around - either Picardo and his missus were drunk, they had a moderately energetic scuffle without really hurting each other, and one of them was panicky enough to call the police and the police on the other end heard the clumsy drunken scuffling on the other end.
