Yeah, only the stinking rich would do that sort of thing. A normal person would simply sell the car or lay claim to it through her attorney.
 
Apparently everything is good now, they deleted some of his ethical subroutines and everything is back to normal.
 
You don't have to really violently fight to get the police around - either Picardo and his missus were drunk, they had a moderately energetic scuffle without really hurting each other, and one of them was panicky enough to call the police and the police on the other end heard the clumsy drunken scuffling on the other end.
