converting fullscreen to widescreen?

Rÿcher

Fleet Captain
I bought a used copy of Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones yesterday and it did say widescreen on the clamshell but the disk says fullscreen

I've already ripped and converted the DVD to IFO and uploaded to iTunes.

I want to know if there's any way to convert fullscreen to widescreen and what program to use.

thanks.

Considering the process of turning something from widescreen to fullscreen involves chopping off the sides of the image, there is no way to get that aspect ratio back unless you chop parts off of the top and bottom, too!

I'd convert it from fullscreen to widescreen by taking it back to the shop and exchanging it for a widescreen copy!

It's in Portland, I'm in Augusta. Portland's a 45 minute drive. We were down there anyway. Chalk it up to a $12 loss. I'm good.

I'm reminded of when I was going to visit some long-distance friends over the weekend and they said we could watch Fellowship of the Ring which they'd just picked up. Well, we watched it alright- in fullscreen and on a small (15-17") computer monitor.

There was no way I could _not_ MST3K it at that point...it was impossible for me to take it seriously.

Bad luck dude - though you could always put it on one side to take back next time you are there - in the UK most stores will exchange without quibble within 3 months or so, not sure about the US though.

It's kind of the equivalent of wanting to take a standard rez video and converting it to Hi-Def. The information is just not there to do so.

I'd definitely return it.

I use virtualdub + filters to convert mpeg files from 16:9 to 4:3. It's not a fast process for the MMORPG stuff I record with FRAPS, but the price is right since virtualdub is freeware. :)
