Convention Photos

The wig is fantastic, Janice totally needed it when she was bringing Kirk his papers to sign. She was ready for anything!

Why didn't Kirk notice her? Was it because of workplace guidelines?

:guffaw:

In my imagination, the in-show explanation would be that a droid the size of a computer mouse weaves a woman's hair until it looks like that... Hmmm? What if the droid does her/their hair while they are sleeping, so that they wake up with perfect hair every morning?

Another slug like droid might be crawling across her face half an hour before the alarm goes off, applying make up, so that "she" wakes up with perfect make up?

Wouldn't the morning shower, even the morning sonic shower get rid of the sleep-given makeup and sleep given hairstyling?

A third mouse sized slug like droids crawls across your body cleaning everything (like a sponge both the bed ridden get in hospital) also before you/she wakes up.

Human sleeping, sounds an awful lot like Borg regeneration.

There's a speech in the show where Kirk says (he might have been crying?) that he feels like a castrated asshole for not having an affair with his yeoman, because not ####ing the help is the responsible and adult thing to do, and constantly pretending to be adult and responsible makes him feel like a wussy.

I think it was in Miri, wasn't it? That's where Blish put it in his adaptations. A captain is only allowed to notice what regs say is pertinent.

I would believe all that was possible, even in the TOS era, but I have seen TMP.

I'm not looking it up, but there's 15 years between the movies and the original series in-story.

Fashion changes.

Kirks treatment of Rand in the Transporter room.

It's possible that TOS was so long ago, that it went beyond him not just remembering Janice's name, but maybe he didn't recognize her as the same person who used to make him bite his pillow. After all, Dekker put that crew together and Jim Kirk can't be expected to remember every crewman who served under him for 5 minutes without a little context.

My TMP point was because TMP is full of "ugly" people, not ugly that you would notice if you saw them in the street or in the mirror but ugly for Hollywood. So it's hard to believe in the beauty droids that make you over in your sleep.

Ugly people (who are also disturbed) wear more make up than pretty people.

Makeup can't fix ugly (on the outside).

(Look, you can't insist that beautiful women exist if there are no ugly women. If there are no ugly women, then all women are beautiful (that sounds familiar) which also means that all women are also all ugly because there is no contrast. This is like when Pizza Hut done away with the Small Pizza on the menu. "Large" is now their smallest pizza. Which means that whenever someone asks for a large Pizza and gets a small, which is literally a large, they're one angry inch away from a Falling Down scenario.)

The more make up a woman wears, the more I doubt her inner beauty, or maybe her confidence.

(The Dumbo effect? Catwoman must be the worst movie ever made.)

Although nothing is set in stone, and I made all this shite up as I typed up, and I'm likely to flipflop when I edit.

But why use impossibly beautiful women to sell make up to ugly women who can't be (classically) beautiful without surgery?

It seems mean.

Jim Kirk is a sexist pig who hand picked his beautiful crew.

Are you imagining Teacake that there's a plastic surgery droid who nips and tucks while 23rd century women sleep?

All I suggested was a wash, then hair, and then make up.

(The men version of that was a Charlie Chaplin movie?)

Nothing invasive, and if all that "bullshit" is taken care of, it gives woman kind Federation wide an hour extra a day for me-time or sleep.

Although, if "she" has a bloke over and the droids get confused, they could completely "fix up" the wrong person. Talk about a walk of shame. Boys running home in the morning desperately trying to unglue their beehive hairdos before first shift starts.

Remember when Rimmer got the wrong hair? Oh! It was the wrong body and he wanted 5 minutes to play with his own new boobs! HA!

One month after Voyager returns home, the Federation adds the Borg's technological distinctiveness to its own.

Did Dekker get Rand because he was trying to put the band back together (Mitchell trying to rebuild SG1.) or had she been on Enterprise the whole time for her entire career?

Want? Want has nothing to with how my brain doesn't work.

There's this girl in a new supernatural show called The Returned, the female lead from Scott Pilgrim (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) should be at the top of your list of things to watch.) who is a little crazy and keeps imagining that she is seeing and talking to her dead finance. She is so used to these dellusional fantasies that after 5 years of talking to a sexy figment, that when he does finally come back form the dead, she fails to grasp that he is not make beleive.

To be frank, while I like you in the uniform Brie I'd love it if you did one not in modeling "fuck me" pose but in Star Trek "I'm ready to kill you" pose. I'm thinking of Jadzia as I type this who always looked ready to fight (Klingon ladyman that she was).

I'm not fond of the way women in modelling end up in poses that make them look weak.
Um excuse me? I did not give a "fuck me" pose and I have many more pictures in my uniform where I look like I'm going to kill someone, part of a photo shoot is giving all kinds of emotion. So don't just jump into an assumption about modeling like that...your wording was very inappropriate.

Relax. ;) I yelled at teacake a little earlier because I agree that her wording was quite unfortunate and a bit ignorant.
I can kind of see where she's coming from. The pictures are nice yet (being a model myself) they also made me giggle a little since you're doing that same (sexy Trek officer) type of pose in all the shots. Not that there's anything wrong with that so don't take that as criticism. It's just that my background made me see them like that. But that's obviously my problem, not yours. You were there as a fan and you don't need to give a shit about the modeling business. ;)
Teacake noticed that it's a bit of a cliché pose which isn't really what modeling should be about. It really should be about trying to portray real emotions without going into cliché territory.
But who cares?

It would be very unfair for me to judge you from that point of view.
You weren't modeling there, you were just having fun and it's totally up to you to decide how to have that fun. :)

Okay first off I don't give two flying F***s if you guys like it or not. What my concern is was the wording. I did that shot for MYSELF for FUN and for you to say it was a "fuck me" look is beyond disrespectful. Second I shared 2 of the 30 pictures I got back, I gave all kinds of emotion, but since I decided it's pointless to post 30 pictures of myself I just chose 2 random ones. I did this shoot with my photographer friend who is also a huge Trekkie and we thought it would be fun.

It's great that you're a model too but you sound like you're criticizing as well, whether you mean to or not, and one thing I have never done in my modeling career is criticize another model because it's not my place to criticize something someone put their artistic passions into. I've been published all over the world several times over but never once have I "laughed" at another model. I was raised to treat everyone with respect and the wording teacake used and even the wording you're using since you "laughed" are both highly insulting and (as a model) unprofessional.

These photos weren't used to promote anything or advertise anything I took them for fun. If this was a shoot that was not for someone other than myself it would turn out a lot different but again this was a shoot I did for MYSELF so if I want to look sexy then god damn it I'm going to do it but there were just as many pictures where I was being goofy or serious or where I had a phaser aimed like I was going to kill someone.

You guys need to learn not to critisize people over things that they find enjoyment out of. I posted these not so you guys could talk shit about how I'm standing or looking, I posted them because I love star trek and I love wearing my trek costume and I already posted so many other pictures from comicon I thought it would be nice to change things up a little bit.

I know you didn't mean insult Emilia but it was kind of taken that way. I did this shoot for fun I wasn't going full model in these I did these to have just because well I like trek. If I want to shoot a "sexy look" it's no one's business but my own if I do. The thing you guys fail to realize is this is just two of so many other pictures where I portrayed other emotion. You guys cant just judge someone based off of a small bit of info without having all the other evidence. That seems to be a reoccurring theme on these forums is people judging others before they have all the facts. I loved this forum when I first joined but the longer I'm on them the longer I see how people treat others and it saddens me. We are all on here because we like Star Trek but instead of uplifting each other it seems people make it their personal ajenda to put others down to lift themselves up. That depresses me I hate when I see people do that to other, and I dislike it just as much when done to me. I dont care if you guys like them or not, I do and as an international model I'm not concerned with the opinions of those looking to put people down. I know my skill level as a model and that's more than you can say for the same so please keep your negative comments to yourself because this is a forum for people to express their love of Trek, not for people to talk down to others. Thanks.
