Ok, so, lately I've found that this well known internet critic is just a venting young person know-it-all type was exactly that when I watched his 2001 review, in which I disagreed with every point he made about that film simply because the film was not about the narratiove, and his review of that film was oiff-base as a result. The way he doesn';t understand what is good about 2001 works somewhere along the lines of me not understanding the appeal of most musicals (why would people break into song?) but at least I can appreciate the genre and in particular adore a few musicals (my favorite is Oliver!) even though the genre as a whole is one that doesn't usually agree with me (I'm interested to ehar his take on Moulan Rouge, his favorite film, but of course I gotta watch it first).
That said, I don't have any real problems (aside from hios holier-than-thou attitude he always assumes) with his review of Minority Report. He put the intro and the first part of his review on hbis site at www.confusedmatthew.com. My single favorite scene in the film is early on, the demonstration of predetermination with Cruise rolling the ball and Farrel catching it. I love such discussions of predetermination and even still the scene was one of my favorites despite, or maybe because of the fact that it never quite sat well with me, and Matthew, in his arrogance, made a good point or two about why the scene is ill-concieved. The other aspec tof the film I liked which he likely will not mention is the human-tocomputer interface with the gloves.
Anyway, though not completed, check out his review anyway!
