condolencies to Matt Winston (Daniels) and family....

You know, I had no idea they were related. This news makes me really sad. My thoughts go out to Matt and his family.

That's a real loss to the movie business. Stan Winston did the creature effects for dozens of films I grew up watching. He was a pioneer crossing make-up with animatronics, to give us such iconic creations like the Terminator and the Predator. While CGI has taken over much of this now, sometimes there's just no subsititute for realistic movement in front of the camera.

Matt, I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family. I'll remember your dad for so many of his wonders, but his most memorable creations for me were the dinosaurs for the Jurassic Park series. I've loved dinosaurs since I was seven years old, and I finally got to see them come to life because of Stan Winston and his mates.

I just can't believe he's gone. Have any of you seen an interview of his? He had so much energy and joie de vivre. The guy just loved doing what he did. Always smiling, always looking forward to the next thing.

He was only 62. Way too much left to do. Like Jim Henson.

Sorry to hear he passed away Stan Winston was so talented. My condolences to his family.

Oh wow, I only heard about Stan Winston's death this morning. I had no idea he was related to Matt Winston. Stan was a real legend in the business--one of my friends works at his studio and has learned a lot from the experience. It's been hard there, from what I hear.

My condolences to the family.

Just heard about his dad the other night. Sad news. I always loved and admired Stan's work.:(

While we're on the subject of Matt(however indirectly)has anyone seen those goofy commercials he's done for Redi Whip where he dons a goofy jumpsuit and wields spray cans like six-shooters?

Yeah, I saw Stan Winston speak at a Border's a year ago when he was promoting a book and he mentioned his son was an actor. I don't remember if he said he played Daniels, or even said he was in Star Trek at all, but I think that's around when I found out. I was thinking about that connection when I heard about Stan Winston.
