Or maybe an extended cut? Star Trek movies didn't have extended cuts for ages ... the last one being TUC.
Beyond is the first reboot Trek movie I'd happily watch an extended cut of.

I would have liked some deleted scenes restored in the first two movies as well, but Beyond could be three hours long and I wouldn't mind.
He's no different then Captain Ronald Tracey, Captain Garth, Admiral Cartwright and The captain of the starship Equinox. They all had the same fault. A mental condition.
Captain Edison been on the planet how long. That he completely lost it before he became a Insect.

Seriously. Starfleet needs to figure out why they get batshit crazy captains (and admirals).
His motivation just didn't do it for me. I'm like REALLY? THAT'S why you want to destroy the Federation? Eh.
I agree with the idea he should have saved the day in the end. This would have played into the theme of "home" and finding one's place.
I thought for a minute he was going to.

Funny you should mention that. I thought about Trump and what he might be going through as well.Krall wants to make humanity great again.
Power doesn't corrupt, it simply allows people to be who they really are. In short, Edison was always like that.A little dose of "absolute power" that whittles away at a commander's psyche, perhaps.
That works for the most part. Also, it's never said he directly fought against the Xindi but he does reference their attack on Earth. He probably lost someone in the attack and that's what motivates his anger towards them and towards their later acceptance into the Federation. Not to get to deep into continuity but how does his timeline work? They stated that the Franklin was the first Warp 4 ship, which means it predated the NX-01 Enterprise.
Also he didn't become the Captain until the MACO program was phased out so clearly the Franklin was around a good long while before he became captain.
He also mentioned being involved in the "Xindi War" which doesn't quite make sense as the NX-01 was really the only ship to have contact with the Xindi before making peace with them. So maybe he served on the NX-01 as a MACO during that mission?
But he also mentioned being involved in the Romulan war which took place after the NX-01's Xindi Mission. So here how I see it:
-The Franklin was commissioned
-Several years later the NX-01 Enterprise was commissioned and their mission began.
-the Enterprise was tasked with finding the Xindi and Edison came on board as a MACO
-After that mission was successful Edison continued his career as a MACO which led to his involvement in the Romulan War
-the war concludes and the Federation was founded (not that the two events are necessarily related)
-the MACO program is disbanded
-Edison is given the rank of captain and command of a really, really old ship (the Franklin)
-the Franklin get sucked into a wormhole and blah blah blah, this whole party starts
Is that accurate? Feedback is welcome
I suspect this is where Simon Pegg's talk about the Kelvin Timeline being different even before Nero's arrival comes in, and that here the nature of the Xindi conflict was different than what we saw in Enterprise. He also mentioned being involved in the "Xindi War" which doesn't quite make sense as the NX-01 was really the only ship to have contact with the Xindi before making peace with them. So maybe he served on the NX-01 as a MACO during that mission?
