Since Fuller suggested they were mixing race car and spaceship design, I thought I'd post how the concept melds together.

I think there's a fair chance such inspiration would be a lot more subtle. There's been more than one ship inspired by boats - I think the Enterprise C and B both had boaty inspiration, though clearly neither looked like they'd hold up well in water ;)

I'm just assuming it'll mean more streamlining and less chunky - kind of like the difference between the Normandy in Mass Effect 1 compared to 2 & 3. Maybe more like the Vesta ships?
 
IMO, the idea of being inspired by race cars just means we may see more compact, single-hulled designs rather than the traditional broad, twin-hulled designs. Trek was kinda moving in that direction after TNG.
 
Racecars are streamlined to be fast and to some extent aerodynamic. You can do a lot worse than racecars when mining ideas for starship designs!
 
yeah - could use some work but it's a good start.

Mainly cutting the nacelles and hull apart then creating a new neck to seperate it to make it a little more fluid. Something like the STO Tactical battlecruiser to connect the pylons?
 
It's difficult to start to get into the right head-space to figure out how the new starship should look - when we don't know what era the new tv show will take place in.
 
When Fuller said they were looking at sports cars.... he might have just been talking about the interior.

I.E. Lamborghini seats at the Ops Station and Helm.

Primary and secondary hulls look awesome. The pylon placement is interesting, and needs some slight tweaking. The bussard collectors and the fact the nacelles connect to the saucer, and it appears there are 4 nacelles: awesome. But the nacelles themselves need to be extended, and need to be more symmetrical.
