Computer Woes

I have a 500 GB MyBook from Western Digital which I back up all my important stuff to but I had never thought of backing up online. Is it expensive?

Ok, so I reformatted the drive and have been trying to do a clean-reinstall of XP all morning.

I've gotten through the 8 setup discs that came with my computer when I bought it. Now, I'm being prompted to put in the "supplemental disc" to continue.

I have three or four "supplemental" discs labeled thusly, however none seem to be working. Each time I insert one of the discs, another prompt comes up saying "Install the correct disc and try again."

Me, very confused. Does anyone know a workaround?

I'm assuming Windows is done installing. You could scrap this by removing it from one of the startup locations you usually visit to clean out. You'll want to at least piece together all of your device drivers, but that can probably more easily done online (if you can connect).

Problem is, I can't even get past this to start the computer. It just continues to cycle through the "setup" screen, asking for the supplemental disc.

Is your computer made by a brand name company?

Not saying you should do this *coughcough*... but let's just say Windows XP will recognize a brand name computer and not ask you for a serial number. In which case, any XP disc should do.
