Compliments on Appearance

I've been complimented on my appearance once or twice, on the internet, but not in real life. I like being complimented, but I never know how to react.

I give a few compliments to my friends or family (Such as telling them their hair looks nice, etc)

I personally think it's more important that the opposite sex believe I am attractive(even though it's difficult for me to see it myself sometimes) but am more complimented about my looks by people of the same sex, or in my case, women. For instance just the other day I was complimented on about my hair. The lady sitting at the table asked if my hair was naturally curly(which it's not, it's permed). I said: no unfortunately it's not..it's permed. She was like: get outta here!! I wasn't kidding. And she said, I LOVE cut as well as the style..it looks really natural and is very becoming on you! I was like: oh thank you. Then later on I complimented her and told her she looked 35(even though she said she was 63!) She hugged me and called me her new best friend for saying that. !!

So I do like being complimented on..but there are times when I don't feel that attractive AT ALL and then start comparing myself to other women..I say silly things like: oh I'm fatter than she is..my face is rounder..I have wider hips. I am my own worst critic when it comes to fashion and style and believe that in pictures I look like I weigh 300 lbs(even though I don't). I SWEAR the camera adds 30 lbs to me!
