Hi all, I've registred with this forum for a bit of advise, I have a complete collection of star trek tng, deep space 9 and voyager on VHS cassette, all original and in perfect condition, my questions to you guys is, 1. would they be of interest to a fan of the show's considering they are on VHS? And 2. Where would be the best place to sell them? I'm thinking EBay? Is there a another place you guys buy stuff from?
I look forward to your thoughts, and thank you for help.

Ditto to charity.

Even for me, box sets of the TOS and TNG series, the two series I'd want to buy and watch, are reasonably priced. If you want someone to take them off your hands instead of binning them, they'd be doing you a favour.

You will get nothing for them. The DVD sets are superior, and so cheap.

Donate them (although charity shops around here no longer accept VHS donations because they don't even sell for 5 or 10p!) or find a Trek fan who likes them for the artwork or something.

I'm guessing you're in the US - if you were UK, I might have taken them off your hands (not paying anything, mind!) just to bin the videos but keep the inlay sleeves as I am hopelessly nostalgic for all those over-priced videos I brought in the 1990s!

As i thought! to the melting pot they go!! Must have cost you alot in polaroid paper Pseudo, every scene?! And Forbin, you have them on betamax? And i thought all the stories about Trekies being weird were unfounded!! Ive been proved wrong by the forum itself. Thank you all for your words of wisdom.

Well, I bought the first couple of episodes on beta, then realized which way the wind was blowing and switched to VHS. Then of course I had to re-buy everything on DVD when the 2-episode disks came out. Then the Blu-rays. Happily, I skipped getting the Laserdiscs.

There's no market for them really. You could attmept to squeeze a few bucks out of ebay.

Alot of people actually like VHS more than DVDs, because they dont skip. Post on craigslist looking for a trek fan in your area, u might find one who doesnt have or has never seen TNG, and you could make their next 2 months by giving it to him/her.

Also, about 2 years ago I bought about 50 VHS for TNG at about .50 a piece. I thought it was a good deal at the time, im sure other people would too, if you want to sell it, go ebay, price it low and sell quick

What is this "VHS" you speak of?

:wtf:

I for one love VHS. I have a small Trek VHS collection that has mostly come from thrift stores. I would love to own every episode of OS, TNG, DS9 and VOY on VHS.

yeah, I don't think you can get anything for VHS tapes anymore. I think you missed the boat, when the DVDs came out starting 2003-2004. Not to mention, between netflix and dvd-shrink\handbrake\DVD fab, some people have been ripping Trek DVDs since then! Other people are re-buying in Bluray, now too.

I second you trying to sell on Craigslist, but don't ask a lot. Maybe $0.50 a tape. And that is if you are lucky to find a hardcore fan. If you can't sell, donate them to a city library!

I gave my VHS copies to a family who was just gettin by..paycheck to paycheck..they didn't have a modern TV and after the switch, they had no broadcast TV of any kind..

So I gave my TOS and TNG VHS copies to 'em.. (along with other VHS films and the like) and gave em a DVD VHS combo to play them on..

For months , whenever I visited, I heard Star Trek on the TV... until I gave them a Digital to Analog converter as a tuner...

They moved away soon after..but I do like the fact that I spread Star Trek to a family that needed it..
