I came across this report from 1969 which explains a new technology was about to be introduced to Austalia

If would love it if people could post similar videos of any sort of "new technology" that is now commonly in use (or even if it has since been displaced by even newer technology).

I have never owned a dishwasher.

Dialing your own phone was a new thing in the late 1920s thru the mid-1930s. Before then, all calls were put through by an operator.

Phone technology has certainly evolved greatly over the years.

I don't remember what sort of phone we had in the first home I lived in but when we moved to a new home in 1965 we had one like this

It wasn't long before we got a Bakerlite phone that was positioned next to Mum's armchair. Our first phone number was 5 digit long (23605) and I remember when it was to six digits (236305). Currently land-phone numbers are 8 digit long in Australia.

Though they date from early in the 20th century, Singer treadle sewing machine were still being widely used in the 1960s and it was what I first learned to sew on. There were really beautiful machine.

My mother must of bought her first electric sewing machine when I was about 9 years old and after she did the treadle machine was given to my sisters and me to use.

I enjoyed the commercials largely for how much they seemed to inspired by Blade Runner (locations and lighting). Twenty years on, AT&T's saber rattling does look pretty funny. For what it's worth, I did get my tablet computer from AT&T. It's made by Apple, but I did get it from AT&T. I doubt I'd use it to send a fax though.

This is a modern look at 2019.

^^ Home microwave ovens had already been around for more than 20 years when that commercial was made, although they didn't become cheap enough to be a common household appliance until the 1970s.
