Comet TV thread

You do not need to authenticate a cable tv service provider to watch Comet online on your pc/laptop.

Works from my locked down work PC so I don't think so. I don't get Comet TV so I don't think even some hidden back door login would make a difference.
Oh wow you're right! Ok...the cutupedness sucks, but on the other hand, this is about as easy to access as you could ask.

On the other other hand, they're showing Innocent Blood this month, which is one of my top 5 vamp flicks, for Robert Loggia, Don Rickles, and the just gorgeous Anne Parillaud--but I guess they're cutting out the cool sex scene where the human cop who loves her (and whom she loves) cuffs her (she breaks them easily later in the scene) in order to feel safer...and I guess they may cut other, non-code violating scenes just for commercials. Never mind that.

Still, it's soothing to have Octaman playing while I am working (it's on right now). I doubt I can tell you why.

Ooh, I've never seen Octoman . . ..

But, yes, the blur button is going to get a work-out on INNOCENT BLOOD. It's been years since I've seen it, but isn't she nude in the very first scene . . . and frequently thereafter?

Probably no Jean Rollins movies in their rotation.

Not necessarily convenient for everyone but wanted to note that you can watch Comet TV through their website even if you don't get the channel on your cable or OTA.
Cool. Not sure if I can get it, though. "We'll be right back..."

And I forget to mention that they mute out any "bad" language as well.
Like "I must of got lost" and "wrecked havoc?"

You get up too damned early! :)

Seriously though, check the schedule on the site to see if anything should be airing or not. I got that earlier but the schedule didn't show anything before 10. I think the site is a little wonky occasionally (it shows Johnny Sokko at 7AM most days but it doesn't seem to usually get listed for the current day, for example) and doesn't always work but it's nice that they offer the option at all and it does work a good chunk of the time.

I think that when it says "We'll be right back..." is when there is a commercial break on the station. They don't show the commercials on their website except for Comet TV commercials.

^^ That makes sense.

I've heard that before. :rommie:

Yeah, nothing on till 7am. At 7:30, they're showing Men Into Space! I wish I could be around to see that. And they're showing one of my favorite Outer Limits episodes, "Fun and Games."

They're showing two of the best old Outer Limits eps now--The Chameleon with Robert Duval, and The Production and Decay of Strange Particles, with Leonard Nimoy. These episodes are so very intelligently scripted, like painstaking hard science fiction stories that nevertheless have human elements that must be addressed, some of them very dark. More so the Chameleon, the other is more crackling good, inventive SF. And the sets and alien makeup in the Chameleon are incredible, really--the makeup in particular puts to shame most Star Trek aliens in natural design and entire-head makeup. Both eps work to establish the scientific (to the extent explained) bases of their stories to the viewer, and I really appreciate that Michael Crichtonesque approach sometimes. Feels more adult on tv, more tailored for people who have an attention span to call their own. They do take off into action though and the pacing is great. Both are uber creepy. Both make you realize how amateurish some fan favorites can be, such as Demon With a Glass Hand. That one is so hyped and is really inconsistent and relies on total idiocy from the invaders. These are adult SF.

Wlliam O'Connell sounds like Jeffrey Combs! (or I guess it is vice versa!). Listen to the lead creature in the Chameleon.

The music is awesome as usual, the sound FX are really damn good. Listen to the hatch sound of the alien ship. The device thrumming in the CIA/military installation control center. Good stuff.

Oh they had Production and Decay of Strange Particles up in guide but they are showing the Forms of Things Unknown, absolutely another fantastic episode, and the lesser known one with David McCallum. And it has Sir Cedric Hardwicke too! Just SF gold.

MST3K is coming to Sunday nights! I wish it was a different day because there's usually good stuff on Sunday nights but it's still cool.

That's cool. Classic episodes will be available along with the revival eps on Netflix.

I hope that they don't show Lifeforce.

"Lifeforce"

"Species"

Ah those are fun times when you're 13 and watching scrambled receptions of ENCORE network

BTW. The scifi movies they show are so obscure. I finally saw a clip of that movie everyone posts a part of

"Troll" and that "OH MY GODDDDD!!!!!" scene

The Tomb is on tonight and it's soooo bad. But I'm waiting for the Godzilla movies on after that. Godzilla vs. Mothra and Godzilla's Revenge.

I guess I don't have comet TV. I've been somewhat enjoying watching things on some of the other channels though, like Decades, Me TV (Watched the end of a Wonder Woman episode on Saturday), and H & I. I also read Pivot TV is coming to an End so maybe the cable part of Comcast might pick it up later this year.

For some reason, on my tv, the station is listed as GRIT, but the promo during the shows says Comet TV.
