Come on Webster

The tragedy is that most browsers have spell check built in, and yet here we are.
Of course, a spellcheck can only tell you if a word is recognized or not. It can’t tell you if you’re using the wrong homophone, e.g. “council” instead of “counsel,” “principle” instead of “principal,” “pallet” instead of “palate” or “palette.”

I believe that's a grammar mistake, actually.
No, “As long as your having fun” is a homophone error, which makes it a spelling mistake.

“As long as you having fun” is a grammatical error. Although I believe it would be acceptable in African-American Vernacular English or Black English or Ebonics or whatever they’re calling it this year.
I don't know, I think it could be both. After all, one is using the wrong word, which is a grammatical error. Though I'm not certain.

The tragedy is that most browsers have spell check built in, and yet here we are. I have no problem with grammatical errors unless they reach the point of incoherence. If you go to the trouble to make a post at least make it legible. Readers shouldn't have to guess what your saying. Heck, it's bad enough trying to figure out the intent of a post when the grammar is good.

And man, I hope this was sarcasm:
I'm not perfect, I make mistakes only spelling. But nice catch.

Because otherwise the irony is tragic. Especially considering how proud the OP is of having graduated High School last year.

When did I say that I was proud of graduating from a high school that I got a 2.92 GPA from when I sat around drawing space ships 98% of the time?
Now Now SJ, I know you love to make a kid who hasn't been on the internet for more than a year now look stupid compared to you. But heres one thing you should know, Atleast I am a teenager talking about serious stuff and not being fixed on my cellphone(which I don't have), without a clue.
Now I admit that I am wrong sometimes. I even sometimes look at my post and think, WOW what the heck was I thinking. But I try.
(I know theres some mistake in there, no need to tell me.)

Thank you CorporalCaptain.
No, I included LOL, OMG, and AIN'T in my concerns that the dictionary is turning into crap.

But I have discussed many other topics that most kids my age should care about but don't.

Yes, your contributions to the "wang" thread have been noted.

:rommie::guffaw::lol:

No, most kids my age do care about that.
Just look at the threads I have started. Not a lot of stupid.

Also, that thread was too much for me, I haven't posted there in a while, its not even in my posting history anymore.

Cough... avatar image...cough. While you haven't brought it up recently, it was very common in your early posts for you to extol on the fact that you had just graduated.
Now Now SJ, I know you love to make a kid who hasn't been on the internet for more than a year now look stupid compared to you.
I really don't have to do anything for that to happen.

Edit to add: Maybe if you spent more time asking questions about topics you don't know much about instead of making ill-informed statements and then trying to defend them for 10 pages...

As I have said before in other threads, your posts have improved in intelligibility and from time to time read fairly well. Then there are those times where it reads like you have english as a second language - and a very poorly understood one at that.

Quite true and understood. Yet still some people have numerous and terrible spelling errors combined with grammatical errors that lead to unintelligible posts. Heck, I am a terrible typist and not a great speller of certain words. You'll in most cases never know it from my posts. spell check.

I only use that picture becuase the first picture I used(and only picture I have saved) wasn't flattering. I only mentioned my graduation as a way for the poster(s) I was talking with to understand my age and my knowledge level. I also bashed the school on more than one thread, as an example of flawed education systems. You may say that you don't have to do anything to show our intelligence gap, yet at every chance you can't help but to post something, even if un-related to the thread.(and even for minor grammar or spelling errors that others don't point out.)
I have mentioned before(and I have the same problem with regular speech) my brain is going 2x faster than how fast I can type. I am still trying to type(or speak) my first message when my brain is already thinking of the second message I want to send. As a result, my message is lost in many spelling errors. I don't always think to read over my post. I have tried working on this, and even as I am typing this my brain is already ahead of me. As a counter-measure I have read over my posts here atleast 4 times. I am sure somethings are wrong, but the majority is fine and I think you can get what I am saying. Its actually become rare that my posts are like the one above and are barely read able.

If you look back I have never gone after you for minor spelling and grammar issues. Only posts where the language is to the point of incoherence or has actually been the opposite of what you were trying to say (due to grammatical errors).

And you don't need to re-read your posts 4 times in most cases if you could just master the spell check function in your browser. I know for certain that 2 of the top 4 browsers have it built in and all 4 of those are free. It makes life much easier.

"OMG, the results were statistically significant," in the next peer-reviewed research paper.
 You made me spew my well-deserved late-night glass of wine.

Ben Franklin: (reading a draft) "...and among these are life, liberty and the purfuit of happinefs"?
Tom Jefferson: That's "pursuit of happiness"...
Franklin: Well, all your esses look like effs.
Jefferson: It's stylish. It's very in.
Franklin: (peevish) Oh, well... if it's in.
Now it will be impossible for me to imagine Benjamin Franklin without a speech impediment.

Well, I sneaked into mine one from Star Trek, Doctor Who, and Serenity each, but they were in the acknowledgements section, so they don't count. ;)
