Columbo!!

Paul Carr(Lt. Lee Kelso from "WNMHGB")was in the second COLUMBO episode/movie in 1970...the one with Lee Grant as the murderer.

The most multiple appearances award goes to "Dog", he was in 8 episodes. Followed by Bruce Kirby (6), John Finnegan (6), and Vito Scotti (5).

LOVE Columbo.

My all time favorite Columbo quote "Gotta match?"

The one on the cruise ship with Dean Stockwell and Robert Vaughn was excellent as well. It was also the immediate lead-in for the episode with Columbo in Mexico investigating Ricardo Montalban, since Columbo and his wife were headed to Maztlan in the first one and had just gotten off the ship when the Mexico murder happens.

A Columbo/Monk team-up movie would have been fantastic. :bolian:

Won't happen now, of course. :(

Yeah, they wouldn't have been able to stand each other. Well, no... Monk would've been horrified by Columbo's slovenliness, his cigars, his broken-down car, and his dog, but Columbo would've just reacted to Monk with his usual good humor and deference. Columbo saved his contempt for particularly malicious and unrepentant murderers.

"Mr. Monk Meets the Detective" --I'd pay cash money to have seen that one.

Why do people have to grow old? :(

I always stumble upon Dick Van Dyke's episode where he murdered his wife

Quality episode. One of the best, IMO. Van Dyke almost gets away with it too, but makes a mistake with the camera at the end.

I've been a Columbo fan for years. Absolutely love it. Got all the episodes, and I even own this t-shirt. :D

Oh, Lordy. My absolute fave episode. The slow burn that Dick does through the whole episode is a hoot. And the look on his face when he realizes Columbo's tricked him into incriminating himself....I could frame that and hang it on a wall. Prrrrriceless.

My favorite game on Columbo episodes is deciding exactly when Columbo decides "This is the guy." It takes him some longer than others, but...

Responding to comments upthread...while Adrian Monk sometimes reminds me of Columbo, I feel that his true spiritial descendant is none other than Det. Robert Goren, as played by Vincent D'Onofrio on Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Oh, and Servo? Excellent shirt.

Oh, indeed. Bobby even uses the "Oh, just one more thing" mannerism. He's basically Columbo with Asperger's Syndrome.

Me, too. Christopher has it right; Columbo would have treated Monk with great and sincere respect-- all the while deliberately horrifying him and feigning innocence, just for fun. In the end, of course, Monk would grudgingly come to respect Columbo. It would have made a great movie and would make a great novel. :)

Another great COLUMBO episode was the one with George Hamilton as the lab scientist who eventually gets "discovered" by the blind man with the exact twin brother who was walking his dog at the time Hamilton murdered his victim.

I just LOVE Columbo, I never miss it if I see it on TV. One of my favourites is Columbo Goes to College - this is the one in which two over-privileged and arrogant young men murder their professor with a remote controlled gun. What makes this one so good is the dressing down Robert Culp (as a powerful lawyer - the father of one of the boys) continually gives Columbo for his supposed stupidity and hopelessness... he is so absolutely appallingly rude and patronising to him. He gives Columbo some "pointers" in how to begin investigating a case. Columbo just goes along with it apologising for himself and scratching his head all the way. Priceless - one of the most comical episodes. And all of their faces, as he slowly unravels the genius planning. It just all comes together in this show, the writing, the actors. A rare treat. :D I'm so pleased to see so many fans here!

Falk had a great career...And he was in PRINCES BRIDE..can't go wrong with that!!! He took that character (Columbo) and really made it his own. Pretty much like Shatner/Kirk its hard to disconnect, in my mind, Falk/Columbo...

I'm surprised you get that one on TV. In my experience, the revival series is rarely rerun on TV. Are you somewhere other than the US, or are there showings of the revival that I'm unaware of?

I've got the latest DVD set, and I just watched Rest In Peace, Mrs Columbo last weekend. I think it was the only story where they used the "revenge" motif so common in other detective series. It was also cleverly written, switching around the POVs. They did play with the format a bit in the later shows. On the same set, Columbo Cries Wof featured... well, I might as well use spoiler code....

A fake murder that becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy at the end. :D

Pretty nice.
