College student seeks personal assistant for $10-$12 per hour...

I pay someone to change my car's oil.
My company provides a lady that empties my trash can.
I often pay someone to make pizza for me.
I've hired a baby-sitter.
I have mailed things to addresses in my own city.

I am capable of doing all these things, yet I paid someone else to do it. I certainly hope that anyone criticizing this kid has never used Jiffy-Lube, Pizza Hut, or the Post Office.

Because using them is the same thing he's doing here. I'm certainly not going to apologize for using them so I don't see why he should be ridiculed for the same thing.

I should probably note that I have a bit of a bias as I grew up completely spoiled in some of these same ways. Before I went to college, I had never done my own laundry, dishes, cleaned a bathroom ... I didn't even make my own bed. I choose to do these tasks now, but it's a choice. People spend their money in different ways.

This is a fair point. There are plenty of people who live at home and have their mother's do these tasks or else get married and have a spouse do them - all for free. At least whoever this guy hires will get paid and will apparently be able to set their own schedule.

To be honest.. i can't believe such guys exist.

Now if he were a manager who's constantly on the move i could understand that he/she needs an assistant to take care of daily tasks like shopping for groceries or turning in/picking up the dry cleaning.

However.. this guy is a college student. I seriously doubt he's 24/7 occupied with his studies/side job (whatever that is.. probably making coffee while being allowed to observe the pros). He comes off as a spoiled kid with too much money who deems himself more important than he really is by having an "assistant" to do his chores (which take up about 2-3 hours weekly).

That one will grow up to be one of those stereotype managers who don't even notice anyone below their level or regards them as tools instead of people and who's constantly elbowing/ass kissing his way up.

If i ever met that guy i'd probably laugh in his face.

Kid may a righteous jerk(stereotypical G-Town right?), but it's his money so I won't mock him for doing this. Like others have said, it's not really that different from having somebody prepare your food every day - and as a college student, that's likely the case.

As to the pay, I've never lived in Georgetown/DC, so I have no idea how this compares. But... my on-campus job when I was in college paid minimum wage, which was about half that. So... I'm not seeing the complaints that "he's not paying enough."

Hmmm all I know is I was able to balance class, my ROTC commitment, my National Guard commitment and was still able to graduate in 4 years. Yeah, if I could do it without an assistant I don't see why he cant

That isn't the point. If he can have one, and he wants one, why shouldn't he? That is the point.

Im not saying he shouldn't have one. What I am saying is that it's a little pathetic (and some what sad) on his part
