Colin Firth Wants to Be Who Villain

This gets me thinking...

Whatever happened to all the reports of Patrick Stewart possibly playing the Time Meddler or some such?

^ He did, but he meddled too much and the episode was wiped from history...if you watched in the eye of the storm you still remember, but...

Because that's the dream of every British actor...to follow up an Oscar win with a guest appearance on Doctor Who or Torchwood.

It's not Christopher Lee's dream though. :(

Christopher Lee has already paid his debt to the genre gods - James Bond villian, Dracula, the Star Wars prequels & the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

:techman:

So? It'd still be great to see him on Dr. Who.

For that matter, I'd still like to see him in a Star Trek movie. :)

I'd have gotten a kick out of seeing him in a Harry Potter movie. Just think of it, here is one of the most respected actors around, and in the twilight of his career he has a significant role in three of the most successful movie franchise of all time. :bolian:

I could care less either way. Usually the actor/actress doesn't matter to me (unless they're exceptionally good or bad) as long as the story catches me.

And Neroon, best forum sig I've seen in ages! :guffaw:

Neroon's sig said:
"The Wizard of Oz is the ultimate chick flick - two women trying to kill each other over shoes."

What's the source?

Actually, my wife passed it along to me, after finding it in one of her costuming forums. I've gotten quite a lot of mileage out of it.

That's an awesome signature, Neroon.

As for the thread itself, I would love to see Colin Firth on Doctor Who especially as a villain. Come to think of it, has he ever been a villain before?

About the closest I can think of is The English Patient. But he's not really villainous; he's just a hurt man, who tries to kill the man who stole his wife's heart.

And until I just looked at IMDB, I had no idea he was in a remake of Tinker, Tailer, Soldier, Spy. Seriously. Awesome. Cast.

Firth played a villain in Shakespeare in Love, though given that movie's rather light tone, he never came off as particularly menacing (at least, not to me).

He doesn't like DW. He was asked to do the audio adventures or DW unbound or something a few years ago and turned them down flat for that reason. They'd thought he'd be happy to do it for the Peter Cushing connection, but nope.

As for Firth, if he was to do DW - and I think he's independent and offbeat enough to do it, Oscar or no Oscar - why not have him play King George VI again?!

colin would be an excellent master . the villian to end all villians .

Now that I think about it, remember those rumours about Hugh Grant as The Doctor? Well, in light of the Bridget Jones movies and their light-hearted 'feuding' in the tabloids etc, who better to play The Master opposite Hughie?

I know Christopher Lee doesn't like Dr. Who he said it was too childish for him, which is a shame it' would've been great to have had him on Dr. Who.

That would be brilliant! But only if they get to have a fight...and only if the BBC will pay for Rene Z to be the companion (and make her eat a few large dinners)
