Code Geass Quickly becomming my new Favorite

Ive never seen them(Moributo bumpers).
anyway, Guren Laggan- if they keep Viral around, Ill continue to watch.:bolian:

btw,

is he really dead? it seems so early in the show to kill him off.

Ammusing series, though pirating things I could have bought for a reasonable price domestically is not really my thing. I usually only go for unliscensed works or at least works that are currently unavailable here (like preliscensed or liscensed but as of yet unreleased titles). Like recently I wanted to check out the Silent Mobius movies but they're ancient in anime terms and the liscense expired so they're out of print. I had to resort to "aquiring them". I wish companies wouldn't do that as it's a shame since the films are quite good and I'd buy both if I could locate all of them. :(

if you are gonna pirate, pirate something you can't get for $5.50 for 5 eps in the cheap bin at suncoast like the Macross sagas

Wow, they miscast a voice on the Dub.....

Lakshata was really miscast, I was hoping for a more mature sounding voice and regal imperial type voice, more of a counter part to count lloyd. Damn I love me some count Lloyd.

...or Maison Ikkoku TV, Kimagure Orange Road TV, or You're Under Arrest! TV. Three things that probabally nobody else has ever heard of, were actually pretty good, and are pretty much impossible to find all of anymore.

Speaking of Code Geass my Artbox/starter set arrived Tuesday. I was especially impressed that it came with two volumes (the first 9 episodes) when most artbox dealies only come with the first. It also comes with an amazing ammount of goodies and extras. It comes with the first Soundtrack CD, a second (English dubed) audio drama CD, volume 1 of the manga, detailed information booklets, and the extras feature episode commentaries and the inclusion of the Code Geass: Illustrated Picture book episode shorts. Any CG fan should be in heaven with this thing.

hell, it's almost impossible to find Urusei Yatsura TV (Despite it being released in it's entireity on dvd in 5 ep sets and a box set 4 years ago), let alone those R.T. Gems

Yeah, nobody appreciates the classics, this is a sad but I suppose understandable fact. People are more concerned with the more recent, better animated stuff. I can understand that as I like a lot of it, however, I make it a point to check out a classic every once in a while. Mention things like Urusei Yatsura, Kimagure Orange Road, and Maison Ikkoku and most fans of medium don't even know what you're talking about. Probabally due to the fact that they're all fairly dated romantic comedy series from the 1980s, which well I wouldn't really expect many to have seen since they're all kinda long compared to your standard 24-26 episode show. Now that the romance genre of anime is a little more well known and accepted I think they should bring them back. They'd probabally have more of a chance of seelling than they did when they were first released.

My current classic is Maison Ikkoku which I'm about 30 episides into at the moment. Kimagure Orange Road is one of my favorites after I saw it last year thanks to a sale and blind buy. I haven't seen Urusei Yatsura though only previews.

I definetly suggest you chceck your discs if you havent already. Bandai fucked up again and they released a ton of discs with poor encoding. I know my disc 2 is messed up and I'm going to have to get it replaced. :scream:

They played fine though the second disc did skip very slightly on episode 9. I read that Bandai commented that the discs are screwed up because they were trying a new copy protection tehnique. I guess it worked too well.

Does it come with those "dvd picture dramas"(is that what the Illustrated Picture books are)? I think the one about Orange should have been a scene in the actual series since it helps make sense out of a certain unexpected scene in season 2...

Yeah, same thing.

Bandai is the only anime company I know of that actually provides decent extras, though even that's not very offen. Most of the time all you get for extras in anime is a textless opening and ending sequence. I wonder if it's a coincidence that 3 other series (which like Code Geass were all directed by Goro Taniguchi) infinite Ryvius, Planetes, and Scryed, all had a nice ammount of extras? Of course all of these series were animated by Sunrise as well which could be it. If it depended on the studio or director it would seem logical.

I'm going to check the rest of the series out and wanted to say thanks to everyone for the tips.:)

Lloyd Asplund is just such a fun and interesting character

I mean on the one hand, he's a Britannian advanced research projects scientist, so he views people as "expendable", i.e. Suzaku, but then again he thinks of them as part of reaching his own goals so he ends up kind of helping Suzaku too (because it meets his own goals)

I love it how Lloyd is like, one of the few Britannians who is NOT mindlessly consumed by his own sense of superiority (much like the Goa'uld, the Britannians suffer from extreme overconfidence)

that is to say....he's still REALLY arrogant, but he can back it up: he's this brilliant scientist, and moreover, he actually second-guesses the imcompetent military commanders and he's really, really FLIPPANT about protocal in a society obsessed with it...
....case in point, he's actually by birth an Earl, but he's sort of a prodigal son, etc.

love the rivalry between him and Rakshata.

But Rakshata is Indian; frankly I wanted an Indian voice or something

Yes, he is indeed a great character as proved by a line in the last episode AS broadcast:

*Enemy Knightmare causes massive explosion outside*
Lloyd: "Horray! We're saved from this hellish paperwork!"

Lloyd is frickin awesome!!!! He is like chief Uber Geek of Britannia, Heck that should be his title.

Count Lloyd the chief Uber Geek of Britannia.

There is some sorta reference to the class president being betroved to Lloyd, but I think Lloyd is not interested in her, we haven't seen Lloyd lust after any guys either. Maybe he wants to make out with a plasma coil or something....
