Code Geass Quickly becomming my new Favorite

Meredith

Oh my god this show just gets better and better.

The Fact that Schneisel has played a trump card against Zero and actually managed to turn the Black nights against Zero. Totally Awesome!!! Oh and Rolo's rescue of Zero was very tragic and very and awesome. Overusing the power of his Geass to save Zero and ends up killing himself in the process. Also LeLouche's pronouncement that his only reason to live now is to kill his Father. Sad to hear about Nunnally.

It is just getting better and as long as they don't screw it up it is going to be one of the best anime sci-fi dramas I have ever seen.

I'm glad the second season seems to be impressing people. I've still only seen the first, but plan on starting the second within the next few months.

I was talked into watching the first episode and the British were such cartoonish BAD GUYS I was  the whole time. I sure didn't want to check out much more after that. Does the first episode just really stink compared to the rest?

Keep in mind I've only seen the first 4 or so.

Yeah, it does. I almost didn't watch any more after the first one because it was so bad, like you said. After that, though, it improved immensely (and I'm told it doesn't go anywhere but straight up).

I've been hooked since he started playing chess with the battlemechs in episode 2!

the first episode is infamously godawful....just godawful.....and even RABID fans of the series admit the first episode is boring, slowly paced, and honestly....skippable!

but episode 2 is mind-blowingly good

oh they're not "British"; "Britannia" is sort of this Apartheid-state that due to alternate history, is a wacky alternate British Empire that NEVER fell and instead embraced Social Darwinism etc. You see, they don't actually control the British Isles themselves anymore: they lost them to Napoleon, and the retreating aristocracy fled to the American colonies (where "Washington's Rebellion" never succeeded) and rebuilt their empire. "The Holy Empire of Britannia" controls both Americas, while the European Union controls Europe (including Russia) and Africa, while the Chinese Federation controls China, India, and Indo-China. This becomes important in later episodes as the governments start getting involved but...

....ok, here are the "good parts" from episode 2 with the rest stripped away; please watch the whole episode though:

***In a matter of minutes, Lelouch transforms the resistance fighters from basically kids throwing rocks and taking pot-shots at the Britannian occupation force.....into stealing their own battlemechs and taking the fight to the Britannians!

Gonna have to agree that the first episode is pretty bad. As a matter of fact, the show has a couple of ups and downs (the Mao arc, blehhhhhh) but over all its good.

The second season has been a bit of a disappointment to me personally since the writing doesn't seem nearly as tight as the first season and sometimes the show seems to loose focus. That said, recent events in season 2 have been down right awesome.

I've really enjoyed Geass so far; it's kind of like the anti-Death Note in that LeLouche's intricate plans often end up with pretty bad results. In that manner, the show feels more genuine; we're being shown a great continuing story of "careful what you wish for".

Well they aren't so cartoonish once you get into it, it is just that they are shown from the occupied people's perspective at first.

I tried watching an episode but it all looked sort of silly.

That's what Clamp character designs do for series, unfortunately. Although if you get past them you may find several interesting shows like Code Geass and it's sequel, Chobits, X TV, Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle, and XXXHolic.

Anyhow, how yes the show does indeed seem to get better and better, outdoing itself in awesomeness, although not as consistantly durring the second season. I imagine with the events of 18 and 19 of season 2 we'll be seeing a lot more character deaths in the remaining episodes.

did they show an episode this Saturday on Adult Swim? They were showing the Aqua Teen movie all night. Then they showed Shin Chan & then I fell asleep. I hope they didnt show it after Shin Chan & I missed it. Its bad enough I have to watch it on Adult Swim but then they interrupt it for the friken Aqua Teen movie. :scream:

the Brittanian characters are my favorites: Cornelia, Lloyd, Viletta, Jeremiah (Orange-Kun. Oh how I love Orange).
In fact I like the adult characters a lot more than the teens. Im glad that as the show goes on they seem to focus less on the school days harem crap that makes me cringe so much.

No, new episode last Saturday, no, to my dismay. Acording to my guide anyway, so I shut off the TV and did something more productive (R2 and Macross Frontier subs). Speaking of R2 you asked last thread if it would air on AS and it was recently confirmed that Bandai has it and that it will air sometime after the first series ends.

Also Moribito-Guardian of the Spirit starts next week. God knows AS won't ever tell you with their usual negligent attitude twards schedule changes and lack of advertisements so I might as well broadcast the fact.

yep, I heard! it will air right after the first season ends, no breaks. :techman:

You'd think theyd at least run a couple ads Sat. nights during the anime airings. I guess they think most of us live 24/7 online & get all our info there.

ugh, i wish i had more resources for anime, my net connection is so pathetic, it struggles with this message board, i won't even attempt to dl anything, and i'm in the middle of nowhere, i get to go to a best buy once a month(maybe) and can only pick up one dvd/box set, i feel so far behind, but i'll be moving to albuqurquie soon

Well, I try to sorta keep up myself and still end up missing a whole lot. Moribito, Death Note, as well as Gurren Lagann for instance. I never saw them until they were picked up by TV stations here.

oh no, they've been airing commercials for it

well, "bumper cards" rather than full, expensive commercials, but yeah, they're pretty actively putting the word out about the new show
