CoD 4 MW - No Multiplayer?

Crewman47

Commodore
Newbie
I've got the PC version and as I mentioned in my "Multiplayer" thread I'm just starting to get into the multiplayer side of these games but on running CoD 4 I kept getting a problem trying to run this game.

I can run single player, I've uninstalled it fully and renistalled it twice but I still can't seem to get the multiplayer to run. Any ideas, or anybody had similar problems?

I had the exact same problem but I was never able to get it to run properly. I heard that starting th game with headphones plugged in helped (I dont know how but there you go) so give it a shot. It's also been a few years since the game came out so there might be a patch or two out there designed to solve the problem.

I've tried looking into it further but with no results.

I know that I did have version 1.6 and updated to 1.7 but still did nothing.

I then found that Windows has an event id for it under APPCRASH, looked this up and found quite a few results. There was a couple of results that say to uninstall, or as I did, disable the onb-board Realtek sound drivers, that didn't work. I've tried running it in compatibility mode with no luck. I've even tried downloading a suggested program from another search called PC Health Advisor, ran it, came back with loads of stuff that it said needed fixed, like registry entries, outdated drivers (even though they aren't) and temporary files etc, but realised that you need to register for a licence.

Don't think I'm going to get it running at all.

i never got it to work either. i take it you're running Vista or Win 7, because i keep meaning to try it on my dad's XP pc...

i have the self same problem with CoD2. SP, fine, MP no dice.

Another game producer with lack of support with their published products on the PC. PC ports are becoming half-assed and half-hearted releases with no real intentions because they just want the money. But then again, what gaming company doesn't want money (I can see them in their office laughing while they continue to rip off their PC companies. Shocks me to think that even a game like Call of Duty doesn't have proper support.

Anywho, in a nut shell, here's what I think of the lazy ass producers and publishers (especially you, UBISOFT and your goddamned DRM):

Okay, I'll ask a similar question, does anybody play multiplayer in CoD 4 either on XBox or PC and find it runs okay. My PC is Windows 7 64bit if that makes any difference.

It ran fine for me on Xbox-I last played last October.
