Clumsier than usual

O'Dib

I wasn't the most coordinated guy before, bumping into and knocking over decorations around the house fairly regularly, but this is getting ridiculous. Smashed two glasses in as many days, dropped a catchup bottle and had to clean up something that could've looked like a murder scene to the uninformed. And no, I haven't been drinking. WTF could cause a streak like this?!

I've had moments of clumsiness. but I can at least blame that on growth spurts and getting used to increased height.

I don't mean to scare you or anything, but if your clumsiness has changed recently, it could be caused by a neurological problem. If your coordination continues to get worse, you might want to see a doctor. It certainly could be just a random string of clumsiness, but if it really is out of the norm for you, it might be worth checking out.

A good friend began having balance problems and she turned out to have a wierd middle ear infection where some of the tissue inher ear was crystallizing - or something medical sounding. You should definitely see adoctor one way or the other.

I agree about going to the doctor. It's probably be nothing--chalk it up to being tired, distracted or careless--but it could also be something physically wrong. If the problem continues, I think you should most definitely see a doctor, and soon.

Thanks for the tips folks, I'll keep that in mind. For now, I'm inclined to think it's just restlessness born of boredom causing me to do things faster and with less consideration than I normally would.

I agree with doctor if it keeps up.

But you might just be in one of those massive brainfart spurts that occur ever so often when the stars seem to be laughing at you.

good luck and be careful.

I'm glad someone else suggested seeing a doctor because I was worried I'd have to be the alarmist one here!

For what it's worth, I'm not normally clumsy and I've gone through streaks like that too. Hit the same knee in the same spot like every day for two weeks straight, random things like that. It always goes away eventually. :D

I am normally clumsy but I do have times where it increases. It has been happening for years and I once chalked it up to being awkward. But recently I found out that I have a weird blind-spot in my vision. It has something to do with my eyes focusing and a slight astigmatism. Basically I will momentarily loose focus on moving objects when they hit a certain distance from me. In most cases my eyes will pick the object back up once it moves closer or farther away but only if they are not moving very fast. That would explain why I clip the corners of walls or run into doors. It would also explain why I used to get hit in the face playing sports as a kid. :rommie: And this increases when I am tired or have been staring at a computer screen to long, which explains why it varies in severity from time to time.

So, before you start thinking you have a brain tumor, you might want to have your eyes checked.

Hm, that sounds plausible. Except, I already wear glasses/contacts. Would I have to see someone more qualified than the doctors who work at optics shops? Or ask them to look for something like this?
