Cloverfiled's sucess = Trek XI sucess

I can't hurt for Abrams to be associate with Cloverfield in the public consciousness as opposed to M:i:III.

DOnt remeber 1941- I'll have to google it.

Well I just came home with Cloverfield. And the Trek Teaser.

Here is the scene: A packed theatre in downtown Ventura( 1hr. north of L.A.), after a million trailers, the Trek one comes on and I scream like a little girl, then proceed to soil myself.

After that the movie begins. Its a white knuckler from beggining to end. This is truly a rollercoaster ride of a movie. Great charachter moments in the beginning, and then all hell breaks loose. This is not a spectator sport, it draws you into its hellish apocolyptic nightmare and drags you along kicking and screaming.

Its it a original concept, no, is the story fresh , no, have you seen the same scenes replayed in diffrent movies, yes. But Cloverfiled does it in a wholey original style and does those things extremley well. That the problem I had with I am Legend, been there done that, stupid ZOmbies, but Cloverfield delivers a unique concept and sticks with it. And all the things it does that we have seen before, it does very well. Pure adreneline, pure fun. 8/10

Yes ideed. Even
when the last sobbing girl to speak on camera, about the events she's just witnessed, has snot running down her upper lip: a great homage to "The Blair Witch Project".

Cloverfield is off to a very good start at the boxoffice, so a lot of people are getting to see the ST teaser.

Dude! Dude!!

1941?!!! Does anyone remember that nightmare? "A Stephen Speilberg Film"
1941 was at least fun, even if it was stupid. Now take some of his later pics, like ALWAYS. Not fun. Not even stupidly fun. That's a nightmare. Far as that goes, ET has never worked for me, even though I've sat down to watch it three times.

He made a helluva picture with JAWS though. I rewatch the last half of that movie as much as I rewatch anything outside of select Bondflicks and 2001.

The TREK teaser was NOT attached to Cloverfield at my theater, Man, was I pissed! Great movie though.

I saw Cloverfield last night, and as Nimoy's voiceover started and the famous musical phrase kicked in, suddenly there was excited chatter all over the theatre.

Mind you, the same people left the theatre an hour and a half later grumbling. (I'm not sure why. I rather liked the movie. I think they were expecting something different from the ending.)
