Classic Superman villain to appear on Smallville *SPOILERS*

I know he was just a Lois & Clark invention, but BRING BACK TEMPUS! Preferably with Lane Davies in the role!

I've been saying that for a while now. In fact, the last time I brought it up, the thread rolled off a Lane Davies soap star cliff.

And there's no need to even re-invent him, per se. Just have him be the Tempus from L&C, permanently banished from their corner of creation, and out to get any version of L&C he can get his hands on.

Yeah,
Yet another superman villian raped for Smallville. Just so they can make the show as Superman as possible without ever showing Superman...:shifty:
The Toyman character has been "refurbished" multiple times within the comics. How is this different?

Also it is very insensitive to use the word "rape" as a metaphor for something as trivial as revising a fictional character.

Add me to the list of those who would love to see Lane Davies back as Tempus!

They could have some in-jokes about L&C. Or just show him to know a lot about the characters. Let the fans figure out the connections to the other show. Either way Tempus would simply be fun! Which is something Smallville does not do nearly enough.

Have the Legion in the same episode to tie it more into DC lore.

I imagine Lane Davies would do it if asked.

I know that he has kept in touch with L&C fans. Groups of fans have attended plays he has starred in LA. He's met with them backstage. He really enjoyed playing Tempus.

He was fucking PERFECT. I loved the way he mocked the shit out of Lois right to her face for being too stupid to see through Clark's glasses disguise.

I would love for Tempus to appear in the Smallville series finale.

"You mean to tell me you STILL can't fly? How stupid are you?"

Okay, not understanding the love for Tempus. I found him a mediocre and overused excuse for a villain. One or two of the stories he was in were interesting, but the actor never appealed to me.

Besides, if you wanted a time-travelling villain in Smallville, it would make more sense to go with Chronos, as they did in Justice League Unlimited.

Tempus was the snarky voice of "reality". He was the lone voice in the wilderness of utopian niceness ushered in by the era of Superman and he HATED it. He hated the "nice". It was his motivation and Lane Davies' matter-of-fact disgust of it all gave him character Chronos NEVER had, even when they drew him to resemble Nixon back in the day.

There was something tangible and realistic about Tempus's attitudes from the skeptical viewer's POV. And 5 appearances over 4 seasons hardly seems "overused" to me.

I think I hated Tempus on Lois and Clark...he was all right the first couple of appearences on the show but they reverted back to him too much. They used him in the wedding episode didn't they? Toyman should be interesting, have known about him for a few months now. What is more important is that Requim is Kirsten Kruek's final episode as Lana Lang!

I just never cared much for the actor's performance. Besides, who said it had to be an exact copy of the comics' Chronos? They reinterpreted all the other Superman villains, so why not just stick the name Chronos on the same character who was called Tempus? I mean, what's the difference? Chronos is the Greek word for time and Tempus is the Latin word for time. It's exactly the same principle.

My problem is I only know Toyman from the Superfriends so needless to say I'm less than thrilled about this anouncement.

Maybe it was a rights issue? Or DC said no for whatever reason. I dunno.

In any event, who cares? Tempus was a fan favorite. Bringing him on Smallville will probably make fans happy and might draw in some L&C fans to check out Smallville. Lets face it, a show can always use more viewers and considering Smallville is more Superman-ish than it ever was before, it couldn't be a bad thing.

Or

Split the difference. Have Chronos, but have him played by Lanes Davies.

I was a fan of Davies since back in his "Sonny Sprockett" days on Santa Barbara. He has always managed to stand out in every role I've seen him in (he was even Reid's father on Scrubs).

Perhaps he is an acquired taste for some.
