'Chunky'-class (although not set in stone!)

Johnny

Commander
Red Shirt
Ok, probably won't call it chunky class, cus that would be silly, but I haven't designed any of the ship on paper, I'm making it up as I go, so I don't have a feeling for a propper name and class yet. Opinions/criticisms welcome.

Looks interesting! However, that is a really weird place for the lifeboats. Why sandwich them behind the saucer windows? That's kind of a small room there for the people looking outside. Also, I don't think placing the lifeboats around the phaser banks is a good idea. That's one spot the enemy would be targeting.

I really like the level of detail, though! Especially the innovative way of creating the phaser banks. Really cool!

That's a very unique take on the phaser strips. I'm not sure I like them myself, but it definitely stands out! The thrusters are a bit ungainly, but everything else looks good.

I can move the life boats in to the other edge of the plates they rest on to get them away from the windows, gives a bit more room in that respect, plus there's too many there too, assuming I want corridors to those rooms there's got to be gaps somewhere leading to the rest of the ship.
If you look at the galaxy-class there's life boats butted right up against the bottom of the phaser strip, and there's some on the intrepid that close too.

I wanted the thruster quads to be like the delta flyer II's deployed thrusters in 'Flight ??', just without the movement, so I may remodel them later on.

Nice so far.
You could call it the Behemoth class, just a thought.

Sounds interesting...

"an animal, perhaps the hippopotamus, mentioned in Job 40:15–24. Any creature or thing of monstrous size or power: The army's new tank is a behemoth. The cartel is a behemoth small business owners fear."

...although, I always shiver when I hear federation ships called 'Dreadnaught' and 'Heavy Cruiser', etc. Maybe something that implies a little more strong silence than an obvious threat??

In that case, how about the Rotund Class?

Wiktionary entry:

  1. Having a round or spherical shape; circular; orbicular.
  2. Round in body shape; portly or plump; pudgy
  3. (of a sound) Full and rich; orotund; sonorous; full-toned.

Haha! 'full-toned'

I also like U.S.S. Undertaking. Sounds like another word for an enterprise, but can also refer to, y'know, burying people.
