Chuck vs. The Sensei

I was watching Chuck and it had Bruce Boxleitner and the guy that does the voice of the Martian Manhunter(He was Mantis too). I could close my eyes and hear the Martian whenever he talked. I always get a laugh out of Bruce Boxleitner too. "Animal Mother" Baldwin is always fun and the blonde lady is hot.

I thought somebody was comparing the show to reaper way back. I don't know if they came out at the same time or started on the same night. Chuck is far superior to Reaper.

Chuck is a good show with consistent quality but Reaper is more out-of-the-box. Chuck just mashes together a couple of well-trod formulas: romantic-comedy x spy caper. It's good as far as it goes but Reaper is coming up with its own outrageous theology, a bit Dogma-like, not quite that far but as far as you'd expect a show to go on the CW. I'm eagerly awaiting its return; I think I saw it's back in March or so.

They might be compared because they're both in their second season this year, both popular enough to survive but certainly not hits, and they both have charming young actors with lots of comedic talent and cute smiles as the lead character. And Chuck's Casey, played hilariously by Adam Baldwin is maybe comparable to Reaper's Satan, played amazingly by Ray Wise. The Buy More crowd is maybe comparable to Sam's buddies, especially if you include the gay hell-demons.

I like both "Chuck" and "Reaper" and am glad both shows are on the air. I think "Chuck" is a hilarious blend of the two genres that Temis mentioned and it's executed fairly well. It's also a celebration of the geek culture, which, as a reformed geek, I am quite happy with.

I like the premise and cast of "Reaper," but it can be uneven at times. It's still funny, but sometimes I can't quite buy into monster-of-the-week.

As far as the relationships go, I like Chuck and Sarah on "Chuck" more than Sam and Andi on "Reaper." That said, both actresses are fetching.
