Chuck Premieres to Strong Ratings

^I can't say I was terribly worried considering how many episodes had already been ordered for this season.
I'm worried, after all this is NBC.

NBC

This Chuck almost getting cancelled thing. Then the Conan thing. And i'm still bitter about the show Boomtown getting cancelled because that was one amazing show.

I guess what I really want is a more realistic depiction of the CIA. Chuck is fine for what it is, lightweight fantasy spy comedy.

Has anyone been watching Archer? That show is frakkin' hilarious - got a much nastier sense of humor, but still the same kind of fantasy spy comedy that would have us believe CIA agents spend most of their time getting dressed up in tuxedos to go have shoot-outs at embassy parties.

Ben Stiller is working on a series for FOX called The Station, which sounds like it will be a comedy more based in reality - it's about the CIA in Latin America, trying to install a despot. I hope it makes it to series next fall. If it's got the same insane approach as Tropic Thunder had, it could be great.

Honestly, I don't know a damn thing about the "real" CIA (and I think that's kind of the point), so I'm perfectly content to believe that this is how they actually do things.

My second/third/fourth/whatever cousin was in the CIA, and nobody knew anything about him. He was born...he joined the CIA...and he would only resurface every 5 years or so. The only reason anybody even knew he was in the CIA at all is because he retired and was allowed to tell his family.

Well, lightweight fantasy spy comedy adventure show that occasionally dips into the pool of genuine drama.

But, yeah, I'd say that a show about a computer repair guy who gets a database of government secrets downloaded into his brain is not the place to go to for a realistic depiction of espionage, and I'm not sure why the idea would ever occur to you.
