Chuck - (final) Season 5 discussion incl. Spoilers

So.. Chuck's back!

First i'm a huge fan of the show.. rarely did a show celebrate "our" culture this much, putting a Nerd front and center and have him carry the show and there were countless scenes and stories where the show celebrated popular culture and what it meant to be part of this group of people.

The show rarely was serious, at times the plots were below believable and it had more logic holes than a Michael Bay movie but nevertheless it had a tremendous fan following that repeatedly kept it on air and saved it time and time again until now.

As this is the truly last season let us raise a toast and enjoy the ride for the last time!

As to the episode.. pretty much standard Chuck i'll say. Nothing groundbreaking and laying the groundwork for the whole season.
The humor is still there, Strahovski is still insanely hot (had to cover my mouth to not wake my neighbors with cries of delight when she appeared in a "special" scene ;)) and Morgan is still Morgan from season 1 and i love it. I hope Beckman returns later on as she was and is an integral part of the show and i loved her scenes (still a bit disappointed to not have her at the wedding for some personal touch).

Mark Hamill was awesome with the little time he had onscreen and Intersect Morgan is fun too although the stuntman for the fight scenes was a little too obvious.. sadly Zach Levy isn't a good movie fighter and it shows and apparently Josh Gomez is even worse so they directly got a stuntman . The fights were a missed opportunity.. they just needed a good fight choreographer.

Plotwise i have a nagging suspicion that Deckard isn't the bad guy for some reason but is using Team Chuck for bigger purposes.. what this is remains to be seen (could be wrong though).

- Morgan with the intersect should be interesting, however long it lasts.

- On one hand, I'm tired of the Buy More. It's been played out and it's odd to see Chuck still there (when he is there that is). On the other hand, it's a part of the show, along with Jeffster and Big Mike, and they did a decent job of plausibly keeping it around. Too bad about Chuck's money though. Would have been fun to see him and Sarah as a wealthy couple.

- I didn't recognize Craig Kilborn at first. He's starting to show his age.

- I hope General Beckman isn't gone.

- I didn't notice Mark Hamill, then I did some digging and someone at the IMDb said he played that guy at the beginning who stole the vase. I then had the same reaction as someone else who responded... That was Mark Hamill?!

^Yeah, I almost didn't recognize him.

Yvonne looked great. It was a little strange hearing her with an American accent since I was playing Mass Effect 2 just before Chuck.

Yeah it took me a few minutes to recognize him. The make up guys did a good job and he really got into the role.

I did not recognize Craig Killborn though.

Um, that's not makeup. He really IS that chunky now. lol

As for the episode, I thought it was just okay. Chuck is once again trying to hide something from Sarah, and there's yet another fancy party they have to sneak into (I swear we've seen this same villa a couple times already). Overall, pretty standard stuff. Although I did enjoy Morgan as the intersect.

By this point I'm used to the season starting slow though. It usually takes a few episodes to really get going.

Yeah, not off to a great start, but Chuck has always been a bit uneven. I don't really like Morgan as the intersect, because Morgan is only good for a few minutes at a time. After that, he's just annoying, IMHO.

I do hope they give this season a decent wrap up.

It's awful.

They keep trying to create huge massive new drama without remembering barely all the other huge massive drama's that we... saw Zach on the Guild last night.

It's amazing how people just want to be involved in that project for kicks.

I feel like the show peaked in Season Two and I've been struggling to be into it since then. I recall S3 being particularly bad with the Superman episodes. S4 was alright, but this year I'm finding it hard to care. I don't like Chuck being a natural bad ass, he worked best as an incompetent.

But how could he go through all he did without...

I think it was incredible Hulk #371 (20 years ago), when Banner was crashing at Doc Strange's house on Bleaker Street, and he was changing shirts, finding a shit, maybe it just after he transformed from the Monster into the scientist Geek, but there he was shirtless, and the asian Butler says something like "Oh my, Doctor Banner, your physique doesn't quite live up to your "milksop" reputation" And the jade giant no more replies "I've been running for my life from the US Army and every Supervillain under the sun for the last ten years, muscles were almost unavoidable."

I was just about to ask how this season compares to the previous one. Chuck is one of a number of shows that I've dropped this year but I wouldn't mind catching up if I hear there's an improvement.

It shit.

They made a major villain, destroyed him, but he had a boss, destroyed him, but he had a partner, destroyed him, but him and everyone else had been a stooge patsy for the real villain, but he got killed too so that Chuck and Sarah could think about making a family and...

The final season is only 13 episodes long and the network is advertising it as the final season in the promos, so there's no backing out of it, unless they're lying bastards.

"Sigh"

It's almost over.

There are moments.

Moments I shouldn't spoil.

But just remember this.

They only ever made 3 Indiana Jones Movies.

No more, no less.
