News Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey

I show him as Agamemnon
Oh, oops. Brain fart. Mixing up asshole Greek heroes whose names starts with A's.

No, we don't know who is playing Achilles but there was an unsubstantiated rumor awhile ago that Elliot Page will be playing him. Which, of course, riled up certain people.

We do know Page is playing someone in the Underworld as we glimpse him covered in mud in the most recent trailer, asking Odysseus who is watching after Odysseus' wife and son. That would align with the context of their conversation in the poem.

I'll never understand why the "black bars" bother anybody, especially to the point where they set the picture to fill the screen, no matter how distorted it gets. Seeing people squashed and stretched to fill the screen makes me wanna scream. Anything but the original aspect ratio is just plain wrong.
Even back in the square tube TV days, I always tried as best I could to find the letterbox version of movies on VHS whenever they were available. Even today, I still trying always watch my media in whatever ratio it was originally intended to be in. I will admit, it did take a bit of getting used to the constant switching aspect ratio in the IMAX enhanced versions of the MCU movie.

And Arthurian films are full of knights in shining armor. It's not history.
Do we know who is playing Achilles?
Exactly so.

There's been no casting announcement for "Achilles," so the question of "Whose idea was it?" might well be "Some incel at Cosmic Book News making up clickbait copy. "

There was a new trailer before my screening of Disclosure Day today but it doesn't appear to be online yet. It's a full new trailer with lots of footage and dialogue as well as our first glimpse of Lupita Nyong'o (unclear which role since it went by so fast but she was screaming in the moment).

While looking for said trailer, I happened upon this lovely featurette about Ludwig Göransson's work on the score and particularly how he incorporated aulos and lyres in the music:

Man, Ludwig's come so far since I first became aware of his work on Community. I've loved getting to watch his career progress like this.
