Was Albert a great guy? Probably not, but does it matter within the scope of the film? It wanted to portray royals as human beings, and show that even the priviledged can face challenges. The fact that the disability may have been caused by abuse is something Albert has to face and overcome - not because he has to "fit in", but because, as a symbol, he has to deal with expectations. Does his opinions about the war, or his relationship or feelings about Chamberlain, or Churchill, or the war, or Jewish refugees matter in the enviornment of this movie? I don't think so.
I do. The King's Speech portrays Prince Albert/King George as having few substantive moral faults -- his primary faults are issues of emotional functionality rather than moral failures. Which would be fine, except you're talking about the years leading up to World War II -- you can't allude to these issues of deep moral import and then say that the moral makeup of your primary character is somehow irrelevant to the story being told. By whitewashing King George's moral faults, The King's Speech is being dishonest about what kind of a person he was and about what role he played in British history, instead presenting a false image of what kind of man he was in order to fit in with modern ideas about what ought to have been done and to fit in with the low-level cult of personality that helps sustain the British Monarchy.
This is an interesting article from CNN's senior medical correspondent...although it has a historical error in it as Elizabeth was never Queen but the Queen Consort.

Queens consort are usually referred to as "the Queen" or "Queen Such-and-such." Indeed, during her time as Queen Consort of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon was formally titled "Her Majesty the Queen."
Yes but a layman would think it was referring to Queen Elizabeth II
That article makes it very clear that upon the death of her husband and ascension of her daughter to the throne, she became known as the Queen Mother.
