Canadians rejoice!

Just in time to exterminate holiday boredom, the new DOCTOR WHO: A CHRISTMAS CAROL special makes its premiere Dec. 26 at 9 p.m. ET exclusively on SPACE.

WOO!

Though I was hoping for a Christmas Day broadcast, I'm not complaining. One day delay is not a problem at all. Actually, this may work out better since on Christmas Day I'll likely be busy visiting or being visited by relatives.

Will here's hoping that I my cable box doesnt' change channels or anything and I can record it.

Going back to my-in-laws the week before so will have fuck all chance of watching it live or even a repeat - my eight year old niece rules the roost (well tv anyway when she's there).

so that is that is US, Canada & Oz, all airing the Christmas specail within 48 hours of the BBC, makes me wonder how long the non English speaking countrys who air the show, will take to air it.

I'm actually happier that Christmas Carol is on Boxing Day, because on Christmas Day itself no one really watches TV. We're all eating or what-have-you. Fortunately I'm almost always in an "enforced state of offline" during the holidays, so I won't have to worry about spoilers.

The only sad thing is it doesn't appear as if Space will be airing the Proms, unlike BBC America. Oh well - I'm 99% confident that it will show up on the Blu-Ray for Season 6.

EDIT: Make that 100% sure, since the Proms has been announced for inclusion on the just-announced DVD/Blu-Ray release of A Christmas Carol (UK only, but you know it'll turn up over here too).

Actually after Christmas dinner my best and I normally have gone to see movies. This year we're planning on seeing "Tron Legacy". Interesting "A Christmas Carol" is getting it's own DVD release. The previous Christmas specials (excluding End of Time of course) have been included in the series box sets.

I suspect the Christmas Carol DVD is the UK vanilla release and that it will also be included in the season box set.

It's better than six months which is when CBC finally aired "The Runaway Bride" I believe as mentioned in the BBC America thread. I don't mind it being on Boxing Day as I said after Christmas dinner I will normally go see a movie or the family will watch a movie on television (and seeing as how I'm the only Doctor Who fan in the house despite both parents seeing the second doctor when they were younger it makes it hard to persuade them to watch it together).

I'll be visiting my folks over Christmas as well, but since my Dad likes DW too, we'll most likely be watching it together on Boxing Day.

what is it with you international types having nothing better to do than to sit and watch TV on Christmas Day?

Here in the UK, its basically the law that you have Christmas Dinner, and watch the BBC from the sofa for the rest of the day.

Besides, Christmas is usually done by the time the special will be airing. Presents have been opened, family has been seen, dinner has been eaten, etc.

Well my family is small and both my brother and I are grown (he still lives with my parents though due to his Autism) so we don't really do that much on Christmas Day. We have had friends over occasionally but in recent years not really that much.

for me the Doctor Who Christmas Specail, is the final present, so its still part of Christmas.
