Chris Hemsworth is [NOT!] Sarek

Re: Chris Hemsworth is Sarek

Report also confirms that Jennifer Morrison is in the film, maybe as Carol Marcus and that the character is in the script.

Re: Chris Hemsworth is Sarek

Opps, sorry, guys. :brickwall:

The girl in photo is Jennifer Morrison even.

No idea who this guy is, but from his pic at IESB he looks close enough. The coolest part of that article is the Jennifer Morrison/Carol Marcus stuff, IMO.

Me either. I see that most of the YouTube clips of him have the word "shirtless" in the title.

Not exactly how I think of Sarek....

Hey, he had to have some quality to sweep Amanda off her feet, didn't he?

But maybe that's how Amanda thinks of him...

OK, let's just say then that it adds a ... previously unexplored dimension to the character.

Re: Chris Hemsworth is Sarek

He's 24. This is the first time I've thought WTF about a casting choice.

This movie must be all over the place in time.

Not necessarily...

I've never heard of this Hemsworth bloke. Along with the Ryder casting (which I'm...not a fan of), I'm really hoping Sarek and Amanda have a very limited presence in this movie.

Re: Chris Hemsworth is Sarek

I'm getting the impression that this is the life of Spock kind of a film, kind of like the first Superman movie.

Re: Chris Hemsworth is Sarek

Chris Hemsworth is NOT Sarek, but actually Kirk's father.

So...he's younger than Chris Pine, and he's playing his father.

Right.

Merciful God in Heaven above!

That seems like a much better fit. Probably a flashback / scene set during Kirk's childhood.

This really does seem to be shaping up as a real origin story, at least in scope.

Re: Chris Hemsworth is Sarek

Does fanon/canon have anything to say about Kirk's father other than him dying?

There was an '80s novel called "Final Frontier" (Diane Duane?) that had George Samuel Kirk, Sr. as a protagonist, serving aboard ... wait for it ... the USS Enterprise under Capt. Robert April

Other than that, I don't know.

Re: Chris Hemsworth is Sarek

Oh please, God no. :scream:

I'm not much of a Home and Away fan (soap that Hemsworth was in for a couple years), but usually when there's been nothing else on TV I'll watch it for a bit (Please don't judge me) and every time he came on screen I wanted to throw things. He CANNOT act. :brickwall:

Yeah, he does bear a slight resemblance to Pine, and could maybe pass as his dad - as long as he keeps his mouth SHUT.

This is the only piece of casting I've seriously questioned as well. Everyone else has been top notch.

I'll reiterate everyone else's sentiments - WHAT THE FUCK?! :wtf:
