If the Final Cut can't attract new fans to the franchise, then what is the point? We (old fans) have lived with the pilot in its original form for 13 years. There's no big attraction for us beyond some mild curiosity. If we do a season or series marathon, won't we pick the version that leads well into the next episode? I would rather have had the money go into making the next SG-1 DVD movie better.

Some of us have been wondering about that since the news of the redo was announced.
That assumes that there still is a next one. They have a script, but there's been no word of its migrating its way to preproduction yet.
Um, to make more money from current fans maybe?
There was no point to this horrible "final cut". Totally pointless, and all just a money-making exercise from the idiots in charge

No, in fact, replacing that one-off glider was one of the director/producer's goals for the recut.
The weird death glider variant is now replaced with a cargo ship with a standard death glider flying escort.
A remake of the original movie with RDA and Shanks? Yeah! Who cares that RDA and Shanks look much older now than they did in the first season? This could be awesome!
Hell Red Dragon was a prequel to Silence of the Lambs and used Hopkins as Lecter even though he was noticably older. So they could pull it off.
Obviously I know he wasn't being serious. I thought the sarcasm of my post was equally obvious.

Stupid question and this may already have been answered but why are they rediting this episode?
Basically it's just a vanity project. The episode doesn't fit with the overall tone of the first season, let alone the series. The nudity and the horrible lines that make Carter sound like an angry bitch needed to go, especially.
