Children of Need 2010 to Show Christmas Special Sneak Peak

It seems this is becoming a tradition, I wish we would have new micro episodes but oh well, budget reasons I guess. This year's CIN will show a sneak peak of the Christmas Special!

I think I preferred the older tradition of doing a few minutes long adventure in the Tardis. But I'll take it anyway.
Same here. I'm not expecting another "Time Crash," but just a few minutes of fun would be nice.

Well, it could be said we've actually had several of these already this year: the skit at the Proms, the mini-scenes that are included on the Season 5 DVD set, plus the whole Doctor Who Live thing which also has footage of the Doctor. Methinks the budget probably went into all of those rather than a mini-episode for CiN. Also, Moffat and Smith seem to have a bit more of a comic bent to them, so my money would actually be on seeing a mini-episode for Comic Relief first (as was done with Sarah Jane last year).

I don't know how seeing a clip from something that we're going to be watching anyway is better than a trailer but oh well.

Given they've just been forced by the British government to take on a lot of extra funding responsibilities it's no surprise they can't afford more than that.

Oh yeah, I'm not disagreeing there. I'm just pointing out the reality of why that's all we get.

Understand, I survived The Dark Years (1989-2004), so ANY new Who is good Who. They've treated the show so very well since its return, I certainly cannot break out any Michael-Grade-level anger towards them. If the show's F/X budget decreases more and more, so be it. Doctor Who has survived worse. At least it's still on the air... :techman:

Whats Children of Need? :techman:

Anyway, on last years one, all I watched was the End of Time clip.

It's Christmas 2008 "The Next Doctor" all over again. It's good to finally get back into the groove of things.

You'd think since it's for CiN, the actors & crew would do it gratis. And it's only maybe 5 minutes worth of work plus editing and whatnot.

Yeah I doubt something like Time Crash was that expensive anyway. You'd think filming something as part of the Christmas special would be possible, a couple of extra scenes here or there.

They obviously had no problem filming specific scenes for Dr Who: Live, but I guess that generates revenue.

To be honest I'd rather have a decent trailer which gives you a feel for the story, than an out of context scene.

^ My thoughts exactly, have Matt and Amy present it or Arthur and the Moff. I think the only way that we will get a "Time Crash" or micro episode again is if it is pertinent to the following series or is a special thing like "Time Crash" was.

Well, to be fair, I imagine after all the pre-media blitz before Tennant left, Matt still had to film the regeneration scene, Season Five, the Proms, Doctor Who Live, and SJA. He probably just needs a vacation is all... ;)

I'm sure theres some moronic union rule that prevents the crew from doing anythign for free.

So yeah, while I'm a bit dissapointed, I'd rather see them put that time and effort into the actual show.
