Chibnall's First Series Won't Air Until Autumn 2018

I actually feel sorry for Wales always being shit on by everyone. Does it really deserve the reputation of being the Newfoundland of the UK?

No, heck I spent three years at university in Wales so I'll always have a soft spot for it so any ribbing from me is always good natured. Cardiff is by all accounts a really nice city these days. I can't see why they'd move really.

Well, there's no denial that can't be parsed or otherwise made to look suspicious. I do suspect this one might be a fib, though. A move in production is certainly plausible enough: the people who tied the show to Wales are long gone.

What will Tat Wood do if he can't sneeringly call it "the Welsh series"?

Nah, what flew in 1987 won't fly in 2017. Therefore, if Capaldi refuses the regeneration scene, they'll just use a CG Capaldi duplicate, like they did with Peter Cushing in Rogue One.

And use up their entire year's VFX budget? We'd end up with villains made of tinfoil....again.

Retracting my previous statement - we're not just spoiled for American TV, we're spoiled for the first six seasons of the returned show. Remember when we could expect 13 episodes in the spring, five or six months off, a Christmas thingy, and then only a couple short months until the next season?

With seasons of Torchwood and Sarah Jane sprinkled in, ah, those were the days.

2011 was when it all peaked. We started with the first half of Doctor Who season 6 starting in April and went on until June. Then Torchwood Miracle Day began in July and led directly into the second half of DWS6, which led directly into SJA, and by the time that ended it was already October, so we had two months to wait for the Christmas special. Then jump ahead a year in which we have to wait until September for the first half of DWS7 which was five episodes, plus Christmas special.
