Cheron

Not sure if anyone shared that before anywhere, but I randomly found this Instagram video from Augusto Bitter showing the makeup process and costuming for his stint as Virgil.

I had no idea his makeup was a full latex face mask, like they did for the Orions in Discovery. I wonder why they did it like this.

What’s also interesting is that he’s wearing contact lenses with some interesting designs that I can’t say I noticed in the film itself.

What’s interesting is that the two Cheron cadets (or were they one and the same?) we saw on the Athena apparently didn’t have those irises. With the first one it’s really hard to make out, but even though the second one seems to wear some sort of contact lens, they don’t appear to be identical to the ones Augusto was wearing. Not to mention that of course neither Bele nor Lokai from “Let That Be Our Last Battlefield” had any sort of special iris.

Almost looks like Geordi's implants, maybe that's what they are
with a whimsical designer who decided to make them inverted colours of each other

When the Academy episodes first aired I just assumed it was the same Cheronian cadet who just changed up her hair as the year went on but looking at those stills I'm not so sure anymore. Of course we had three different looking and sounding Ziyals and accept they are one person...

Certainly an avenue for lots of interesting stories with the Cheronians.
