Chemical Magnets

The FX for the movie will be great. The sets will be panned by many, but will be more appealing to a newer crowd. The story will be the standard 'put the team together' stuff we have been seeing since XMEN came on the scene.

But, for me, it all will come down to chemical magnets. Meaning, will the relationships come off right. You can't force chemistry between characters, it never works. And unless the audience gets some kind of 'team' dynamic, and more importantly, the Kirk/Spock variable which, to me, is what keeps TOS ahead of all the other shows, the movie will be good for the eyes, but thats about it.

I have never really been let down by JJ. I liked MI3, and I liked Lost, and I liked Cloverfield. I am going to give him a chance here. I just hope he doesn't make the cast more equal; meaning, they're all given equal time to do their thing. Kirk and Spock should dominate the movie in terms of dialog and as the ones who cause things to happen. If its a movie of seven equal characters it will not fly..IMO.

I suspect the crew will get their moments to shine. He has to make it a point that each crew member is a valuable player in the story.

But it will probably focus on Kirk and Spock, with McCoy being a major support character.

The rest may not have that big of a role to play.

One can only hope...TOS was centered on those two, and McCoy as it went on. To change that dynamic would, I think, gut the essence of TOS. Takie and company often complain about it being that way back then, but oh well, that's how it was...and, to be honest? I'm okay with it...

Part of the casting process involved testing the new Kirk's chemistry with Zachary Quinto, so I think we should be safe there.
