So that's a 3 to 1 ratio to begin with. And of course many of the women were younger than the male actors as many of them were playing love interests etc.

That was my first thought. Also, we have to factor in the fact that men generally die younger than women (although it's changing now that women are picking up men's bad habits - drinking, smoking, stressful jobs).

I think smoking is a good guess, in general (not necessarily this lady); actresses used to use it for weight control. Some still do.

Hello, i'm new here, been a star trek fan for a long time. Even watched all the episodes on Netflix. Very sad she died so young. She was a very pretty lady as well and does anyone besides me think she looks a lot like Shania Twain?

If you look at the guest actor death tally, particularly before 1995, the vast majority are older men. But even if you count the women, the vast majority are NOT playing Enterprise officers but planetside characters.
The actor who played Korob in CATSPAW was the earliest notable death I spotted. In the case of officers, it was probably the actor who played D'Amato in THAT WHICH SURVIVES. Michael Zaslow, who had TREK's first ever televised death as Crewman Darnell in THE MAN TRAP, also died fairly young in the mid-90s.
