Characters or situations you'd like to see in the books?

O'Brien is in the post-finale DS9 fiction, including Lesser Evil, Unity, and the Cardassia portion of Worlds of DS9 -- as well as the Starfleet Corps of Engineers story Aftermath.

As for Invasion!, I really loved the concept when I first heard about it, but the execution left something to be desired. I thought the Furies were pretty creepy in the TOS story, but got less and less interesting as the series continued. The DS9 book was the best, but it seemed to have little to do with the other books. Plus, I don't think the Furies have even been mentioned since.

They have been, in the SCE/CoE story Ring Around the Sky by Allyn Gibson.

Which is available either as an e-Book or as a part of the Grand Designs CoE omnibus.

I'd like to see some kind of new alien race that just appears unstoppable like the Borg used to be. Something completely unknown. Something that would cross over with all of the series at some point. It's not necessary to have an all-out war ala the Dominion, though. In fact, it would be better if they just appeared every now and then, again like the Borg used to. I think the writers could create something really impressive in this regard since they aren't constricted by budget or special effects in print.
I don't know if they will cross over, but if you keep up with the DS9-R, they introduce a new enemy that seems like they might be tough. Well, at least I hope they will be since they've spent the last 4 or 5 books talking about them and getting ready for them to come.

Gee, it will be so nice to finally get caught up on the DS9R! I've made several attempts over the years, making up to Twilight before getting kind of bogged down. I love the book, but that sucker is huge. I love long books in general, but for some reason I kept getting distracted with things such as the Lost Era, some of the collections, the Crucible trilogy, etc. I think the only ST novel longer than Twilight must be Crucible: McCoy.

I'm not sure, but I think Crucible: McCoy is actually the longest Trek book ever published.

I will offer something with DeSoto could work if it were a "political" novel along the lines of KRAD's Art Of The Impossible (especially if KRAD or David George wrote it).

I wouldn't mind seeing a few more Enterprise-B and C stories...especially Enterprise-B a lot closer to the beginning of Harriman's mission (there's a lot I liked about Serpents Among The Ruins...but it felt somehow unsatisfying...as if we were being shown one of the final volumes in a longer series without being given a chance to read the first ones).

Maybe an "alternate series" book set aboard an Excelsior captained by Kirk (as if TOS crew was given Excelsior instead of Enterprise-A).

Battlecruiser Vengeance.

And I don't mean *mentioning* it in dialogue. I mean the actual program, written in novel form. Perhaps a collection of stories.

I mean, since when else have we ever actually seen what fictional programming would be like in Trek's time? I'd like to think that Battlecruiser would be like a Klingon version of Spike TV programming - raucous, fun, lots of explosions, etc.

Hmmm things I would like to see are perhaps maybe more of the Sheliak Corporate and the Breen.

I wouldnt mind learning more about the Furies and the Unclean... the Unclean were really freaky...

Ninja Edit: Oh and of course the Voth.

It is a curious notion to ponder. Particularly, what kind of science-fiction would such a society produce? I do recall, however, one novel mentioning a program Alexander would watch, about a group of people bouncing around in the time-stream, visiting new periods with every instalment... sort of like a time-travelling Sliders. Drawing a complete blank on what book it might have been, though.

Definitely agree about the Sheliak and the Breen. The Sheliak seem pretty cool, and I would love to see a book that deat with them. I really think it's about time we learned about what the Breen's appearance and culture are like, they were in 10 episodes of DS9, and were mentioned several times in TNG, but we still no nothing about them.

EDIT: As for a "alternate" movie era TOS on the Excelsior, we did, sort of, get that in the form of the DC TOS comics that were released between TSFS, and TVH.

Well, that could be difficult. After all, you know what they say -- it's not easy seeing Breen.

^ Okay, you know what? I'm cutting you off from the joke & pun buffet. From now on, it's strictly a healthy diet of science factoids and continuity observations for you.

(All right, I'll let you make jokes about Articles of the Federation, but that's it!)

FWIW, Meditations on a Crimson Shadow, a Cardassian novel mentioned in DS9's "The Wire," takes place in the(ir) future, and would therefore qualify as science-fiction. Other than the basic premise, though (Cardassians and Klingons at war, which eventually happened anyway), there was no indication of what "futuristic" elements the novel contained.

Sins of Commission by Susan Wright
Alexander was finishing his breakfast cereal, watching the latest issue disk of his comic on the holo-imagery padd. Tiny shifting images of humans, apparently this time the group was stranded in an underground cavern. Alexander’s favorite series, with the main thrust being the heroes’ attempts to escape from a time-slip that trapped them in different periods on Earth. Deanna had assured Worf it was very educational. Worf viewed one episode, found the focus on character interaction made it dull. Others, with space battles and personal combat between exotic alien rivals, looked more interesting, but Alexander didn’t like those.

I would like to see more Voyager novels, with concepts like:
- Voyager shifting to the mirror universe
- More time travel
- More parallel universes, as in Echoes #15
- And definently stories with black holes

Plus, I'd like to see way more crossover series like Invasion!, although I'd have to struggle through the DS9 entries, seeing as DS9 is my least favorite.
