Character ratings: Worf

Worf is one of trek's all-time great characters. I'm not a big fan of extreme Klingons -- they are too barbaric and repulsive. But Worf represented a nice combination of the best of Starfleet and the best of the Klingon culture.

I'll echo the above sentiments. Perhaps the character with one of the richest backstories in Trek. Klingon, raised by humans. The fist Klingon in Starfleet. We met his father, his mother, his brother(s) his son(and in DS9 his wife). Always Alien, never betrayed his Klingon heritage. He was Klingon to the end. Look at the pilot of TNG and see how far Worf came by the end of the show. Forget what they did to him in the movies....I'm not counting that.

He loses one point because at the beginning he was kind of an idiot. Other than that, yeah he was one of Trek's best and most interesting characters.

Take away Picard, Riker, Geordi, or Data from TNG, then TNG wouldn't have been as good.

Take away Troi or the Crushers from TNG, TNG would have probably been better.

Take away Worf from TNG, TNG would have been a wooden, saccharine suckfest for the most part.

Only really liked him when Q took the piss. "Eat any good books lately" As overused as Data and not as interesting. In fact we got even more of him cos the Klingons invaded DS9 and inserted their annoying tedium there as well.

I hope not. You make a valid point about Klingons. Although I give Worf a very high rating (10), I'm not a big fan of Klingons and their hyper-obsession with "honor", which they violate any time at their convenience.

I loved the character, mostly because of the growth the character had over the years. Plus he had some of the greatest lines in Trek. He gets a 9 from me.

7. He had some interesting scenes, but I wasn't that interested in his character overall (though he could be pretty funny at times... "I am NOT a Merry Man!")

8. When he was written well (SEE: Deep Space Nine) Worf was a great character. Easily a 10. When he was written poorly (look, these aliens are so strong they can beat up Worf or, look Worf missed the Ferengi with his phaser again as security chief) he was awful. Luckily, his better moments outshine his lesser ones.
