Character Options' 'Classic Who Figures' wave 1.

Mike's Comics rules, don't they? Amazing customer service, great communication, and lightning-fast shipping. I always check with them first if there's anything Who-related that I'm looking for.

Oooh! Just got an email shipping notice. My classic Cybermen are on the way! :D
Same here. Thank you, Mike's Comics! :D

Isn't it great feeling like a kid again? Actually, this is better than being a kid because they didn't have these when I was one. :)

He is fantastic. Best online experience I've had and I prefer ordering from him. The only exceptions being when Mike can't get something in again like my recent Time Lord figure order. They just arrived this morning by the way. I've decided against painting one though and I'm giving it to a friend instead.

My Cybermen figures are on their way too, but I ordered them from Who North America. I just checked Mike's Comics, and I wouldn't have been able to make my purchase there anyway, since they only sell the Cyberwave as a set, and I only wanted two of them.

I do suggest Who North America, though. Their shipping is also swift.:techman:

Yeah, WhoNA is very good as well, and they're invariably my second choice. I just like the more personal touch from Mike (and to be honest, his prices are usually a bit lower, too).

How are you going to make your Tomb Cyber Leader without all 4?

Easy. I won't. I don't care about the Cyberleader.

^Yeah, I'm just going for the Tenth Planet/Original Cyberman, myself. That's the coolest looking one... :techman:

I'm getting them all. I don't care for the Cyberleader from the Next Doctor which is just a normal new Cyberman with a bit of black paint which I could do myself but I do want the classic Cyberleader. It's the only DW BAF I'm interested in.

Going with 5" scale. Since CO aren't making a Classic TARDIS, well, I'll just have to make my own.

Of course the royal pain is going to be cutting out all those circular holes in the foam board. I've punched 1" holes in a plastic stencil sheet and now need to use that stencil to carefully cutting the holes into the foam board with an exacto knife. Tedious work indeed. ;)

Thats cool though. I must ask though, what console are you making, as it changed season to season. Just wondered. Oh, and are you lighting it?

Somewhere on my hardrive, i started to design a 3D Tardis interior, i think i posted it up in here, i cant be sure. but anyway, the brief on the project was "Doctor Who: And The £60 million movie." I never finnished it though.

Ypurs sounds so cool, being in scale with the figures and other toys etc. Having a physical classic Tardis is just cool.

You posting any pics anywhere?

I feel for ya, i have a massive WIP.

The Polar lights Enterprise Refit.

I work on it when i want to get away from things mainly on sundays when the better half is at work, just to escape. Its in a plastic box with all the equipment plus accurizing pieces. Im in no hurry, its just a project that i always wanted to try out.

I'm not even thinking that far ahead yet. I'd love to ad some lighting and a motorized time rotor but not sure I'm up to the task. I was a store manager with Radio Shack for years and avoided those pesky electronic components like the plague (except during inventory). Right now I'm just looking for odds and ends to use for the controls.

As for which console... it'll be mostly based on the console from Romana II's time. And of course, it'll be more representative that exact.

There will definitely be pictures though since I'm building it for the webcomics we've started doing at my site.

And good look on your WIP. Of course I'll want to see that when it's done. :)

My Cybermen have arrived from Mike's Comics!

I'm keeping the box closed til I get home. They might try to delete my cubical after all!

Oh, you lucky man. I checked my tracking number about 1/2 an hour ago and they've only just left the US today. I'm hoping to have them by the end of the week.

And... I think it's going to take a bit longer building my classic console room than I thought.

Cutting straight lines in foam board with a utility knife is as easy as slicing butter.

Cutting about 50 circular holes with an exacto knife... well, that's going to take some very slow going cutting around and around in a circle, trying to evenly work the knife deeper each time and yet maintain smooth edges... *sigh*

Went to Tesco again last night on our way home from a mates house. All Who figures are HALF PRICE. They had the new edition of Nine with auton arm, auton mickey head and anti plastic bomb, ha haa, "Now, run for ya liife!".

They also had a few newer figures such as River Song, the Vashta Nerada figure in the suit, that looks well creepy though. They also had the new charicatured time Squad stuff. Cute.

I got a frown from 'the other one' when i grabbed it. "Its only £3.98!!!" i said, with a load of kids in the toy ailse.

So yeah, get to Tesco, fantastic. couldnt fine me a sixth doc though.:(

Just been onto mikes comics. Fantastic range. I loved the classic cybermen so much i have actually ordered a couple. They look so cool. Especially the ones from The Tenth Planet and Tomb of the Cybermen.

LOL

I can imagine.

Im not surprise you havnt thought of motorizing or lighting, i havnt even thought of that on my WIP. I have holes drilled etc for the wires etc, but havnt even bought anything for it yet or even started to paint it. Its a large project, but only in spare time, so im not going to do everything at once. Although, a life saver comes in the form of a pre-made lighting system for the kit from CultTVman.com. Just got to put it in and plug it in.

I feel for yours though if you do choose to light it and other parts of it seperately. After all, its a custom build, so its gonna be murder.

I wont keep going on about it though, you have more than enough to think about just fabricating it.

My Cybermen have arrived from Mike's Comics!

Mine arrived last week. Character did an excellent job with the Cybermen. :techman:

Its a shame really that Playmates got the rights to NuTrek. Character have really come on strong in recent years. The attention to detail, especially the classic Who figures and villians is astonishing. The detail on Fives cricket jumper and especially Four in general is fantastic.

Its a shame Art Asylum or Character or any other half decent toy maker didnt grab the rights, the detail on these NuTrek figures couldve been awsome but playable and cheap.

Obviously its a quick-buck marketing move with the new Trek figures but come on, Characters figures are what, between £6 -£10 give or take an offer or two. Thats not alot. And the quality is so much better. Granted character are a british toy comapny but its on par with Art Asylum in the quality at least.

Cant wait for the Eighth and Seventh though.

Indeed. I'm a big fan of the care that goes into the CO figures as far as sculpting and detail. The only thing I don't like are two of the articulation points: The bicep and the thighs. I know, for example, that the bicep is a more realistic point but I'd much rather they'd done that just above the elbow.

Yeah the knee joints on some of the Doctors are WAY too low for some reason.

The classic Cybermen are just amazing. Of course, I only got the Cyberleader from The Next Doctor so I could get all the parts for the "Tomb" Cyberleader.

I never much liked the new Cybermen. And I could never figure out why they chose to put the Trademark stamps on their asses instead of the bottom of the feet like all the other figures either.

Thats one thing i picked up on. The very first original run of figures in 2005 had only one arm and leg joint, even Ten in/out of coat. you could only move the arm up or down, the hands didnt even move round, Ten, also had a hip joint so you could pose it like Tennant, with his legs apart (C'mon, i know what ya thinkin').

Then we get to the newer releases, and the new edition of Nine has the damn bicep joint, but it gets weak really quickly, i have him holding the auton arm at his throat, and the bicep started to weaken, maybe its temporary, i dont know.
