Character Options' 'Classic Who Figures' wave 1.

I've got the sonic and laser screwdrivers, the sonic seems a bit bigger than it's supposed to but it amuses me. The sonic pen was on my list but Forbidden Planet mucked up the order and I haven't got round to doing it again - besides the River Song one comes first.

Actually I read that the screen prop started out smaller, but then they switched to the exact size of the toy just so kids would have the most accurate version possible to play with.

Which was kind of a cool thing for them to do.

Indeed it is. I wonder when they made the switch - I judged it by the size it was in the first series (in particular when he was looking for a way out of the BB house), and I can't find a good shot ot it on the official site. Though the River version here seems pretty close in size to the one I own.

Of couse assuming I have the same size of hands as Alex Kingston :wtf:

Up until September I didn't have any figures, then a friend bought me the 4th Doctor Commander Skor (in joke as he was played by a guy called starkey). Then for Christmas the same friend got me a Sontaran trooper and my g/f got me Davros.

Figuring the universe was trying to tell me something I've added a Supreme Dalek to the mix

Ah Starkers, beware. I started in a similar way.

My first was Dalek Sec. I bought it because I just thought a black Dalek would look good on my shelf. Then a friend got me another Dalek. And then it was just supposed to be Doctors and Daleks and then another friend started collecting himself, buying two of some and giving me one. And then there were my own additions and now, thanks to my friend, my collection is far larger than I'd intended (or wanted for that matter).

Josan, did you ever get all of The Doctors? I remember you had a Colin figure with a stained lapel...

BTW, Tennant shouldn't really be shorter than Baker and Davison, should he? That's how his action figure looks compared to my others...

@ The

Yes, I got the Fifth first, in the Time Crash set (had to have the celery ya know). Still haven't got a better Sixth figure and did get the Fourth recently which was in excellent condition.

@ davejames

There's a scale issue going on there. If you watch Time Crash, Tennant is clearly taller than Davison. If you look up the stats of the actors, Tennant is taller than Davison there too, by about 2 inches. Why they made the Fifth Doctor figure taller... beats me.

Also, just got a Classic Dalek set. I was nervous after reading all the complaints about them on the DWF but mine were almost perfect. Almost. I think they packaged them with the pain still wet. The sucker arm and gun joints were stuck so gently rotating freed them but took away some paint on the ball socket and the clear elastic they have on the eye stalk for shipping wore a grove into the dome of the "Genesis" Dalek.

I don't think I'd mind too much. I still have a stash of wrestling figures. The 5'6 Rey Misterio being the exact same height as the 7' Big Show... thats annoying (to me ;))

I understood that the original, smaller prop was too fragile and kept breaking, so they ended up using the toy as a model for the new prop.

Yep, thats how it really started for me. I bought Ten cos it looked so cool with coat and sonic screwdriver. Then i got Ten again from a friend that christmas, but, with RED trainers and a sonic screwdriver. Then in came the Daleks 1 and 2, and i bought Davros cos it was so fuckin' cool, besides, it was a Woolworths buy at £2.99 before they closed. :techman:

Then i just had to have Four and Five when i saw them in Tesco.

Didnt care what anyone said, i was having them.

Yeah, thats what i was thinking, why scale them up from the others, theyre bigger than the current NuWho figures which kinda mythed me, cos being a kid... or an adult... you would, if im right, want the scales to match up.

I know that scales in the real world and tiny figure world are difficult to do correctly, hence the difference.

but hey, who cares, theyre cool and a lot cheaper than the deluxe figures/statue/collectors items ive seen recently.

Oh dammit! It had to be Forbidden Planet, didn't it? Their overseas service and basic customer service sucks-out-loud! And, while I'm certain these will be released later as non-exclusives, fuckitall if I'm not going to go ahead and order these...

I've already ordered mine.

Worldwide economic crisis?
What worldwide economic crisis?

Actually given what happened with the first Colin Baker figure I'm considering buying a bunch of this one, waiting a few months and then flogging them on e-bay to cover the costs.

Suh-wheet! Just pre-ordered. :techman:

I'll be getting Hartnell and Troughton later, either when I have the budget, or they release them in single packs (minus Daleks)...

Holy crap!

Forbidden Planet will be releasing three exclusive sets of Original Series figures.

1st Doctor and 'Dalek Invasion Of Earth' Dalek.
2nd Doctor and 'Tomb Of the Cybermen' Cyberman.
(both available in colour and black and white versions)

And......

THE Colin Baker in his alternate Blue Costume!!

[notices the rip-off prices] Double holy crap. :(

Wow, cool news!

Although I wonder, is it just the 2-pack that's exclusive to them? Or is this going to be our only way of getting a Harnell and Troughton figure PERIOD?

I'd hope they're limited-time exclusives. Character's second wave of Original Series figures will have the 7th and 8th Doctors in it; so they'd have to be in the third which wouldn't be until the end of the year.

They have the exclusive rights for the UK. I think the are this years ComicCon exclusives in the US.
