Tuvok receiving the letter from his family, then doing the logical thing and returning to his report... then he looks at the letter. Then he sets the report aside and picks up the letter. Because there are limits to Tuvok's logic.
One of my favorite Kira moments is from "Indiscretion"... when she makes it very clear what will happen to Dukat if he makes good on his plan to kill Ziyal... she tells him with simple, deadly sincerity: "if you hurt that girl, I promise... I'll kill you."
